lots of great practical tips, thanks for sharing. Do you ever rebuild oem calipers with the Toyota kits or its not worth it ?
@moosemobileautorepair Жыл бұрын
Thanks. No, never tried to. Because of time and stuff I just get a new one. In most cases the calipers are not too expensive, but sometimes they can be. For me it would be more of a liability if something goes wrong with the rebuilt caliper although it's not too difficult to do I just normally buy new ones. Sometimes you may not be able to find a rebuild kit either. Back in the old days many guys used to rebuild pretty much everything. But today, everything is fast food style like and so usually getting a new or remanufactured part is the way to go in today's world.

I been watching your channel for a few months! I have a 2010 myself! I was wondering what type of new caliber that I could replace mine also what type of rotors would you suggest for this car? Ihave good break pads just my caliper pin is stuck only moves a little , on the passenger side! I appreciate any advice you have! Thanks for sharing! Texas USA

I typically use any caliper that's available from the parts store. I don't really use a specific brand for that I just use what I can get my hands on and that usually works fine. Remanufactured or new calipers work fine in most cases. I haven't had any problems using either. You will need to free up the caliper pin if you can get it out or it will need to be heated up to get them out. I recommend any type of coated rotors it doesn't matter too much about brand as long as the quality is there I just use the in house brand from the part store that I deal with here in Canada called Part Source. Any reputable brand works fine on these cars.

Question. So there is two other clips that come with the pads. Is it necessary to install or can leave em off?
@moosemobileautorepair8 ай бұрын
You need those hardware clips. There are 4 separate clips per side on this vehicle. If those clips are not installed the pads will sit loose and will make a lot of noise.

What about the wear indicators ??
@moosemobileautorepair8 ай бұрын
No need for them. You can put them on if you want if they don't obstruct in the way of the installation.

Questions so I replaced calipers, rotors and pads but now I have clunking noise when driving over bumps. Everything is tight and lubricated right there is some play on caliper.what could cause the clunking noise. It also stops when applying the brakes.i did a proper bleeding too!
