I just saw this post by accident. I have a 2011 Multistrada 1200S Touring with about 21K miles on it. The bike has been bullet proof in terms of reliability. Personally I think it is better looking than the newer models. Mine is the black painted model. A couple of critical upgrades make this bike WAY better IMHO. VStream makes a sport windscreen for this model that substantially cuts down on the buffeting experienced from the OEM screen, really great design. The other HUGE improvement is from the aftermarket Ohlins suspension control unit which makes the suspension semi active. Worth every penny! Dramatically improves the suspension and wheelie control over stock. Mine has been decatted with an Akrapovic exhaust silencer and MIVV pipe (yea its pretty loud). Plus the stock plastic parts are all carbon fiber now cutting the weight way down coupled with the decat and lithium ion battery. I just bought a new 2020 Diavel 1260S. Love the new bike. But honestly, the Multistrada is an absolute rocket ship by comparison due its wind protection over the Diavel. Last note: I rode a 2015 Multistrada through the Alps with Edelweiss Motorcycle tours. Great bike with the Skyhook system but I'll take my upgraded Ohlins over it. I will be interested in a Pikes Peak V4S setup for the street if they decide to make one in the Multi. Wow you definitely got the most from your 2011, especially on the exhaust. Ya now that I've owned both there are a few things I like better about each. I'm annoyed by Ducati's reliability issues, their famous fuel sensor and cracked coolant overflow bit me recently. I think the new Multistrada V4S could be the best one yet.
@hufmybone3 жыл бұрын
@@CarolinaCowboys yea the back brake on mine has been an annoyance and yes the fuel sensor, but nothing major. I was just at the dealer, the V4 is cool, but I'm not sold on the 19" front wheel as I would never take it off road. They really need to make a "street" version of it, setup as a super naked with a fairing. ;)

@@hufmybone I took the v4 out for a test ride a few weeks back. I have the 2011 multi with 22k on it never missed a beat, took me on loads of bike tours with no problems. as for the v4. you would never know the bike has a 19'' front wheel. one of the best handling bikes I have ever been on. I wasn't a fan of the idea of a v4 engine in the multi before I rode it but my god does it go!! absolute weapon

I had a 2012 Multistrada S Sport and a 2016 S Pikes peak, Both great bikes you are right! Another good use of the Bluetooth in the MTS is the Ducati link app works pretty well if you want to record your travels or check your telemetry. I miss that storage for the key and change from the previous version. I had some issues with both öhlins suspensions in both of the bikes but the dealership was great to take care of the problems,. Other than that amazing bikes, versatile and super fun to ride.

If you still have the bike and want to fix the screen height problem, the best solution in my opinion is the MRA X-creen (a little deflector screen which provides laminar airflow). Very well made, not expensive, I've been using it for about 2 years now, would never go back.

How is the skyhook suspension? The newer models incorporated this new suspension and I heard it makes a big difference.
@CarolinaCowboys4 жыл бұрын
Ya it definitely makes a huge difference! I've been really happy with the 2016 model, there's a big difference between the 2010 and 2016, but not much difference between 2016 and 2020 with the 1260 engine. Just more refinement.

i still have my 2010 MTS Touring; pushing 40K miles. the shifting is my worst complaint; False neutrals 4 to 5 and sticky between 1 N 2. oh, and the rear break - forget about it. sorted out the reliability issues after i bought it and the bike is great otherwise
@CarolinaCowboys4 жыл бұрын
What kind of reliability issues did you have? The false neutrals is something that I see in every MTS, I guess they want you to jam it in gear. Adding a quickshifter may help.
@haolee19754 жыл бұрын
i bought the bike in 2013 with 6000 miles. and the warranty expired. the DES went out after a week. bike was in the shop for a month. Ducati replaced the shock and then the ecu. it was an expensive fix, but they supplied the parts and i paid labor. then at 15K service the tank was replaced due to ethanol gas expansion. both fork seals has been replaced. the false N comes and goes. 30K service was about $2200. coming up on 40K and all good. deciding to keep or sell. Tuono, SDuke, or another Multi?
@CarolinaCowboys4 жыл бұрын
@@haolee1975 40K is pretty good and it sounds like your previous seller gave you some issues. I heard that the Ducati quality really went up in 2015 with the DVT. I've had zero issues with mine. He forgot to mention that the 2016 has a more spongy rubber band like throttle response because of the DVT, where the 2010-2014 versions had a great direct throttle response. I do not like this effect of the DVT and have purposely chosen a 2014 latest model of the first engine version.

Got my first multi 1200s 2013 from new in red, on pcp 16k. Handed it back after 3 years trying many new bikes but ended up again with another multi 1200 not s 2011 in white paid 7k cash. Then part x to a 2015 1200s Dvt in white with just 1000 miles on for 14k hp over 4 years. Sold that after 4 years for 9k which i then paid out right for a 2020 streetfighter v4 in red with 1400 miles for 16k. Most thought i would have bought back then the v4 multistrada not the streetfighter, but to be honest, it was an ugly looking thing .anyway, had streetfighter 2 years and loved it but me being 6 foot it was time to get another multi. So this is was was up against. 1st. The v4 pikes peak is not the same engine as mine ( desmo) but the all new to launch soon RS multistrada will have my engine ( desmo ) but wont have the 205bhp but will detuned to 170 bhp 😮. Now if you know, then you know that most multis are all around 160hp anyway....????????? . Anyway i have now sold the streetfighter this morning funny enough for 14k and purchase a 2014 multistrada 1200s touring in red with skyhooks suspension with 28k fsh for 4k not because i dont have the money, but because i think this is the best bike i have ever ridden for the fun factor, comfortable still looks beautiful, fast ,reliable, basically everything. So there you are gentlemen, make what you will with that. Oh and the dvt burns oil which is apparently normal and the streetfighter is a beast on pembrey track but on the roads its just too good to commute and clock up the miles in 3ed year everywhere.
