I found it on my 2012 Explorer, but it did not work. Could it be that it was changed at one point? Can it be changed?

Great question! There are sometimes multiple ways to change it but I'm pretty sure you must always have the original to change it. You may need to have the dealership help in this case.

@@ethanfletcher4462 Thanks. The dealer wants $80 to give me the code. They want also $250 for a second key plus $180 to program it. All this adds up to $510 before tax. I should have taken this into consideration when I bought this car recently. :)

@@theopinionatedme and my girlfriend are dealing with the same situation 🤦‍♂️ they want basically retail price for the car and it doesn’t even come with a button, keycard and the windows don’t all work

So I just checked my explorer and I found the code but I tried to enter it on the door and the door code setting on the radio screen in settings and it did not work

Go into the door code reset on your touch screen and enter that code to reset it

Yes the codes are different between each vehicle.

If you are using the code that you found, it should work. I've done this on probably 15-20 Explorers. If it's not working, you'll sadly need to see the dealer ☹️
