So I have an S&B CAI now, but was never a fan of the plastic components. I live in Canada where alot of snow is a reality and with the S&B they have the option to plug the bottom air access hole so that snow is less likely to get sucked in accidentally. I do run the prefilter as well on the S&B currently.

We don't offer plug panels for the openings on our box like S&B does, but we've had great luck with the Outerwears pre-filter covers as long as you stay up on your maintenance routine. We've had plenty of customers that ran the previous generation open air filter assemblies straight through the winter months all over the country as well as our own shop trucks specifically here in Northern Illinois without any issues with snow making it past the pre-filter cover due to the hydrophobic coatings that are on them. That said, we don't recommend trying to ford a river or submerge the filter assembly, but for your normal off-road dirt, water, or snow spray situations, these covers (that were originally designed for the specific needs of off-road racing use) work great.
