Your video is the best out of all of the blend door actuator [gear] repair videos. I'm bleeding profusely (from unrelated injuries), but I accomplished my task. Thank you!

So I have this issue on the passenger side of my jeep, is it the same process? Could you maybe make a video on how to replace passenger side blend door actuator?

Hint, remove the glove box to gain access on passenger side.

Hello, if you referring to the panel under the steering I believe there are 4-7mm bolts. I recommend you visit my website and download the factory service manual for your jeep. It’s an excellent service manual to have and it will help you with all your jeep service & repairs step by step. --Just click on the link below the video in the description box. -Good luck with your project !

I'm in the same boat. I had my mechanic replace the actuator but it only works properly when on auto mode. I think it needs calibration by dealer but I don't wanna have to pay more$$$. Gonna try pulling battery

@all4bees that's what was happening before my actuator broke. Short story took it to AAA Auto, they replaced the actuator and gear. However as soon as I got thr jeep back it was blowing cool air at 73° when it normally blew hot air on that temp. A week later it adjusted itself. Have no clue but it works fine now.

@@aubreyevans9165 oh weird. i did read some random comment that it calibrates itself after so many cycles, maybe that's what happened. mine blows cold air right now unless i put it on "auto"...

Hi, I replaced the actuators on both sides, and the temp control works well, but there is always a strong clicking noise coming out of both sides when the room temperature reaches the set temp. Any clue why?
@jefftrout56219 ай бұрын
Because the actuator is stupid and determines placement off of resistance, not the actual positioning of the blend door. This is probably why these gears breaking is such a common issue in the first place.
@gerhardgallardo9 ай бұрын
My theory is that the foam seal surrounding the flaps gets sticky with time, generating more resistance and finally breaking the gears. Once you replace them, the resistance remains, and the clicking sound comes from the inner gears of the actuator, which start slipping due to the high resistance. Those should eventually break as well. Final solution would only be to repair, replace or eliminate the sealing foam around the flap.
