I just noticed I checked the power steering fluid level instead of the brake fluid! Derp.

well described procedures... I would add a couple things.. To push out the caliper spring clip rod/bolt, just get a long punch of the rods diameters. On the rear caliper setup you did the main pads but your E-brake is drum setup with the pads inside the rotor so you should remove the rear caliper & rotor to inspect / replace the inner drum pads.. I installed the 2011 18Z Brembo calipers front & rear onto my 2005 allroad.. Due to the 25 offset of the allroad the Q7 rotors will not work so the answer ( for my C5 ) is Mercedes CLA 45 AMG 350mm rotors up front & B8 Audi S4/S5 330mm rear rotors. Since the E-brake of the Q7 is not retrofittable to my C5 I needed to install a bracket to mount both the 4 piston caliper & the E-brake caliper ( Willwood MC4 ).. I wrote up a DIY in Audizine in the C5 section outlining the process & details of how to install the Q7 brake system onto an older C5 Audi .....Cheers...

I think I found the writeup, the one with the bright green calipers? Curious how the paint job has held up. Next pad change I will have to replace the rotors and it will be a good opportunity to clean and paint them.

@@smsauce Yes that is the one.. Paint hs held up quite well. I used high heat motor paint ( which was what I had...) Replacing pads today...

Top knotch my man, I was thinking I would have to remove the entire caliper 😂

Only to replace the rotor, I'll have to do that when the wife eats the brakes up. Most people are saying rotors every other pad change. For that the bolts are ridiculously high torque. I'll get a video of that when the time comes 😀

I think your pad spring was upside down on the passenger side. It cable retention CLIP should be on the top and the sensor cable goes up and over to the other sensor side.

Skipping through it looks like I just put it the same way I took the old one out. I just now checked the service manual and it shows the clip for the wire on the bottom. It also shows the pass through in the casting on the bottom, even with the clip on the spring, and it appears to be driver's side. So clip down on driver's side and clip up on passenger side? If you have the same one from erWin it's on pg 45/46 for me.

You opened the power steering reservoir Your brake fluid reservoir is under the flange by the windshield washer arms

Yup, I realized that later. Derp for me.

El tapón del depósito se suele abrir antes de retroceder los pistones,y ese que has abierto es el líquido de la dirección asistida,el depósito del líquido de frenos está oculto bajo el plástico justo detrás del que abriste.

Yes! I noticed this after I posted the video and felt pretty dumb. I only speak English but the translator I have did pretty well. For anyone else language I sufficient like me, he pointed out that I opened the power steering reservoir instead of the brake reservoir like I should have. Fortunately my mistake did not cause any problems. Normally it's good practice to open the brake reservoir to check level. If a previous owner had topped off fluid, resetting the calipers will make it overflow. Thanks for point this out for us! gracias por la corrección mi amigo I hope my crude translation makes sense :)

I cannot get my brake pad guide out from my rear calipers I hammered away and they won’t budge. Any suggestions.

Nice job. The camera angle didn't show the jack stand I'm sure you used with the floor jack. You just never know when something unexpected is going to happen, right?

They all got recalled! I usually just throw the tire underneath, I'll have to be more strict next time.

I attempted to. ChAnge my rear rake pads. After hammering the brake pads guide, I could not Make it budge. Any suggestions?

Try making a screw press like I did. I also got to where hammering would not move the pin on the rear. Here is a time stamp to mine working: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bomogaibitGAbJY Get a bolt that can slip into the opening the pin goes into and thread a nut on the end. When you turn it CCW into the frame of the caliper it will press the pin out. You could also use a bolt that is small enough to slide though the hole, but long enough to reach the pin. Then thread a nut onto it after going through the hole in the caliper. Getting this pin out was quite frustrating. I'll do my best to help you get that damn thing out!

What size is the bolt you do pop,pop, pop with ?
@smsauce3 жыл бұрын
The one for the front is M8x1.25, for the little bolt press I used on the rear I'm unsure. That was just some stuff I found in my giant bolt collection that just happened to work out. I also found out my local parts store can get the pins for less than $10 each. I think on the next brake pad change I will put in new ones if these give me trouble again.

What are the 4 pistons on the pad itself do ? im a bit confused because caliper doesnt press it i assume ?
@marcstreiff60677 ай бұрын
Front caliper is 6 pistons, 3 per side.. All three pistons are different dimeters.. The smallest is the first to contact the rotating rotor when pressed. its sized differently for het dissipation & piston efficiency. In the rear I believe they are both on each side the same size.. But all of the pistons in front & rear calipers press onto the rotor surface... If they dont than likely one piston is seized..
