I wonder how that compressor is doing two years after installation since I noticed that the oil that was purchased was 'ester' while the correct oil is 'PAG-46'? I lower the sway bar by loosening the bushing and letting it hang down by the end links. that helps with accessing more room to mess around with the compressor.

Hey Dave. I woke up at 5:30 Saw a new video from you. I thought cool. Clicked play The first thing I hear is Apparently we're all going to die. I laughed so hard. Now that's a way to wake up in the morning. Thank you for that. Another great video.

Question , I turn my ac on in my crown Victoria and it wants to cut off but when it’s not on it runs fine . I wonder what could the problem be ?
@truckerdaveandred6731
@truckerdaveandred6731 2 жыл бұрын
Mine is flaky like that. I'm thinking it's a pressure sensor or the screen is clogged. I just haven't had the time to look into it. I'm leaning towards that

@@truckerdaveandred6731 but what if it’s over heating while on ? I just replaced my water pump but when my heat is on the check in comes on and it’s throwing a code for the thermostat / radiator.
@truckerdaveandred6731
@truckerdaveandred6731 2 жыл бұрын
@@GULLAHTV33 get a laser thermometer to check the operating temperature and make sure that the sensor is working properly. If so, clean out the radiator and condenser and make sure that the airflow is good. This is the cheapest way to start. Check that the fan is functioning properly and if all that is good, then go for the thermostat.

Don’t know what year you have but I’d check the diode for the a/c and fuses. If not that it might be the A/C control unit which is in a shitty spot.

Is it ok to drive if it locks up?
@truckerdaveandred6731

That all depends if it's still spinning or not. But as a general rule, I wouldn't.
@08_crown_vic
@08_crown_vic 2 жыл бұрын
@Trucker Dave and Red not spinning, or stops and goes.... But is there a way to at least let it free spin so it doesn't burn the belt off?
@truckerdaveandred6731
@truckerdaveandred6731 2 жыл бұрын
@@08_crown_vic on the Crown Vics the pulley and the bearing are one unit. If it's all seized up there's no way around it. They do sell an idler pulley that you can bolt on in place of the compressor so you can use the same belt or you can get a new compressor, which is what I did. Also, I've been told but I've never tried this, is that there is a way to get a smaller belt and reroute it to where it bypasses the AC compressor. I know someone who did it but it was on a pickup truck with a V6. If you can figure out a way to bypass it, or get a fix, it should be fine. But if it's locked up, there's no real easy answer here

@Trucker Dave and Red what if I just take off the clutch? It won't spin free?
@truckerdaveandred6731
@truckerdaveandred6731 2 жыл бұрын
@@08_crown_vic no, it all works together. You need to figure out what has failed. Whether it's the clutch, the roller bearings in the pulley, or the compressor itself. Everything is press-fit to the front and held on with one Bolt. Truthfully, like in my video, the reason I replace the entire thing, other than the fact that I broke a bolt off in it, was that the parts to replace it we're just unobtainable. I was fortunate in finding the remanufactured compressor. As much as I hate to say this, doing it that way was the cheapest and most economical way to get the car back on the road.

Hi Dave this is Dave .. LOL Ha Ha or whatever . First I'm a complect novice when it comes to working on cars but do have common sense being 50 y/o . I bought a 2006 CV LX with 17.700 miles yesterday , it has sat a-lot ( you know ..'The old lady Deal , that had to quit driving a few years ago ' . I checked everything but the AC system before I left her house . The system blows HARD but HOT!!!! I'd be curious what you 'assume' my issue might be ? I'm thinking Accumulator Rot (as it has sat for a long time ) but would love to have an Idea before taking it in for $$ & Dianostics . My $ is tight as heck so the cheapest fix would be best for me . Love your Video style & thanks for any opinions . Dave In N GA .

I first start to make sure that your actuators are opening and closing, and then check your fuses to make sure that air conditioning fuse is still good. Also, turn it on and see if the clutch on the air conditioning compressor is engaging. From what it sounds like, I would start with the heater actuator door. The last thing I would try, and the very last thing after you've troubleshot everything else, is to put any more freon in it. If you get that far, and get one of those air conditioning kits that has a gauge on it that's why you don't overcharge the system. I would start with checking the clutch on the compressor and the fuses because those are the easiest and I would check the actuators after that.

@@truckerdaveandred6731 Thanks for your fast reply. 1st Forgive me as I'm a details guy with bad OCD LOL. My Step-Dad drove a 1996 C V up until 2017 & had 400,000 + miles , he also worked on it a-lot himself ; so I've been going by his experience in this matter but he in now 75 & is slowing down. We looked at it yesterday & the Clutch is engaging , ill have to look into how the actuator works .........Ok 2 hours later now ..I watched a few videos on replacing the actuator (wow what a pain ) , I see that I can run an internal test to see if that is the problem . & Ill Def check the Fuse I shoulfd have thought of that one . All the vents worked as they should Sooo? . The Car is now at work with my wife but ill look into those issues this eve . Thanks a ton for your time & help , Ill get this fixed before April when the heat & humidity starts here in GA . Looked like you were in Cail , so enjoy the weather there . Good Day Davey/ Dave

@@DavidJones-ib3zy I actually live in Kansas. We stuck the tag on the car because we thought it was funny. The tag expired in 1990 and the car is a 2006. The paperwork on the car got so messed up that we just wanted something on the back that looked good at twenty feet from the street. I'm actually in Georgia today. I have to deliver in Cartersville in the morning and then up to Calhoun and back to South Dakota. You guys have some great weather today.
