So, she looked pretty good for her age when the trans. finally went early this past summer at 296 thousand. The hybrid version of these are the way to go. Most of the taxi cabs that use the Escape are the hybrid and are known To go 350,000 miles or more. Ford used Toyota technology on the hybrid version. Also did you know when laying the rear seats down you’re supposed to pull the bottom seat out then flip it up BEFORE you lay the seat back down? When done this way the cargo floor will be practically flat.
@Thegonagle3 жыл бұрын
Ford and Toyota both worked separately on their hybrid transmissions and electrical systems. Coincidentally, they both have similar design and operating principles, so instead of battling the patents out in court, they opted to share their designs with each other under a cross-licensing agreement. But Toyota and Ford each use their own in-house designs in the finished products. It's not like you can swap a Toyota motors and gears into a Ford or vice versa. They just happen to be similar. (Adding to the confusion, Ford outsourced the building of their 1st generation Escape Hybrid transmission to Aisin, a transmission maker that's majority-owned by Toyota. To reiterate, it's a Ford design, it just so happens that a Toyota-owned company put it together for Ford. The 2nd generation Hybrid and newer are engineered and built by Ford themselves.)

It was so broken down i didnt even get to drive it enough to empty the 1/4 gas tank he left in it, but whenever i drove it, it was fun. Just an easy car to drive and feels smaller than it is. Very practical, we were able to move a full house with only this truck, took lots of trip but everything was able to fit in the trunk. Now that im in the market for a car again im actually thinking of getting the same car, more recent, higher trim and turn it into an off-roader.

Thanks for the video. The first thing that draws attention is that these are/were used as NY Taxis - these guys know their cars and so this is a 5* endorsement for longevity. Second I had 3 sons all needing USA Driving licenses as we moved back here 2013. I let them pick and they liked this. Its a small compact SUV, can carry 4 no problem, can carry 2 dogs to the park, do most shopping runs, easy to drive, comfortable and has bluetooth but no GPS (you have a Smartphone)? I have a Black on Black leather 2011 Escape Limited 4x2 V6. Bought in 2013 for $26000/15K miles ($2/3K too much) , now apparently worth $6000 trade in in TX with 65000 miles (more later). B . The V6 will give around 20-23 Mpg if driven smoothly , being 60 I don't thrash my cars ever, (rentals...mmm) . Had a leak on the A/C and a throttle body (ie Carburetor) failed -. Checked recalls, only Fuel delivery Flange Manufacturer Recall Number16S41NHTSA Recall Number16V777. No other recalls and no Airbag recall as mentioned below. Agree with most of your video with a few comments. Vehicle is very comfortable, seats great (Better than my Jeep Grand Cherokee 2016). With a 3.0 L V6 this car can sprint to 60 in 8 seconds which is 1/2 a second slower than a 2020 Toyota 4 runner (bucket list) and 1 second slower than my V8 Jeep. My car is on OEM original Michelins, though now ready for replacement but 65,000 miles, no complaints. Understand that this car is unique so study before you sell. When looking to sell it they offered me $5K then $6K (65,000 miles). Searching tonight (250 Miles around Houston TX) , the best shows a limited 2012 at $9500 with 100,000 miles (Autotrader..Cars.com had none) . Seems they did an upgrade in 2012 with an early model screen and sunroof. The car is rare for a reason. people keep them and dislike the newer Escapes. Agree with you Rideshare ! This car is a cheap bargain. Not many are for sale. Mine is a low Miles. Classic Car ? no , but having a tough time finding something to replace it. Most reliable car since my Porsche but much cheaper on parts !

That era of the Escape is the best. Its a cheap car with a cheap build. The plus is that means cheap parts too. The downsides? Cheap electrical system can mean odd parasidic drain issues when it ages, the body panels rust off because of really stupid design of open fold over wheel wells. LOUD cabin. I'd have a 2011 5cyl since new. Has cost me very little. Normal maintanance. Ignition switch, some suspension parts only odd this was I has a probleme with rear speaker and found the wire was ROTTED. Yep, fell apart in my hands. I have to cut it and splice new wire in up the door panel. If this happened to other wire thruout car that would explain why people seem to chase parasific drain issues with these. They also have oil leak problems. This is almost always from overfilling. NEVER overfill this car. It will leak. Common sense but quick lube places overfilled mine every time.

I really don't like how utilitarian and bare-bones the interior is. That was a huge deal-breaker for me.

It’s an amazing first car!! Make sure to get oil changes regularly and keep that baby in good shape. I’m at 134000 miles on it and almost 0 problems. It’s an awesome vehicle

how many miles? What's wrong with it? Are you good with cars?
@uptownsfinest15985 жыл бұрын
@@TheRideshareHub not sure whats wrong with it nothing from what they say but they always say that not sure about mileage im assuming alot because it is from a taxi company lol
@TheRideshareHub5 жыл бұрын
@@uptownsfinest1598 Ford escapes are used a lot as taxi cars. I would take it to a mechanic and ask them to take a look at it before buying it. And ask about the mileage cause it probably has close to 200k miles and you don't want something that is going to break down in a couple months....
@XAGR-hn3qt5 жыл бұрын
Don’t listen to people when they say fords are crap I had a 2005 focus ran for ever never ever eeeeever broke down it had 169000 miles when a car hit me it was totally destroyed but that was our daily too, it went from coachella to LA several times a month even up into the mountains so I recommend fords just do a bit research

Up to 34mpg?? maybe the HYBRID model, but I highly doubt the 2WD or 4WD gets close to that. I'm between a 2WD or AWD 2011,... I know its not a major hit to the mpg, but I drive alot on the highway with roadtrips
@hockeymikey4 жыл бұрын
The 2wd 4cyl can hit 34 easy. We're talking 55-60mph. 80mph you're looking at it dropping to about 21-22mph. Hybrid doesn't do that well on the hwy, only in the city where it does amazing.
