Thanks! Just picked up a 2014 Raptor. Heard it was difficult to get to the plugs behind the shock tower. Hopefully it goes as smooth as it was on your Super Duty.

No problem and good luck on it. I actually haven't done plugs on a Raptor yet. Let me know if it is just about the same as this. I'm curious. thanks!

Appreciate this no nonsense easy to follow video. I'm about to change mine out for the first time since trading up from an F150 ecoboost. The two plugs per cylinder got me at first. New sub for you.

Thank you for this video!! I have a miss fire on my 2014 Raptor. The estimate from the dealer was 2650.00!!! She has been a champ with 142,000 miles on it and zero issues. I’m not super handy but your video makes it look simple enough and I’m gonna give it a try. I’ll come back to your video and let you know how it goes after 😬

Awesome to hear you're going to knock it out yourself. I think the Raptor is a touch different than this video, But basically the same thing. Let me know how you make out and good luck!

Farmer Jesse Well..... I haven’t tackled it yet. I am going to need to soon because the misfire seems to be getting a bit worse and I know that is going to ruin my catalytic converter.

I had a small pebble fall into the socket hole of the rear plug on the left bank with the plug still in place. This pebble became lodged into a position between the plug nut face and the socket wall so I couldn’t get the socket onto it. If I slotted the socket, the pebble could have fallen into the hole upon plug extraction so I had to get it out to continue. It probably was the socket that banged it to get it stuck so much. I tried a pick, mechanical fingers, vacuum, magnet, putty, glue, and high pressure air. In the end, three days later, through sheer perseverance and many breaks, I got it out with a set of mechanical fingers and a miracle from God. Imagine laying over the engine compartment prone, trying to focus on a tiny mirror where every move is upside down and backwards with sweat in your eyes and a sore back, with a light that was constantly getting knocked or slipping out of position. It eventually came out with the heavy duty mechanical fingers, but t was one of the most difficult things I’ve dealt with in 25 years of doing vehicle maintenance and repair. It was also the most perfectly easy problems to occur. I blew my engine compartment out, which could be how the pebble made it way into a position to fall in. This is why I strongly recommend taking extra time to vacuum along with using air to ensure these areas are clear. You do not want this to happen, believe me. This video taught me about how to control a universal joint effectively with electric tape, how to use never seize & grease correctly and the lowering technique. So thanks, this was great content that was edited really well. Not a lot of BS and realistic. Thanks!

Been a Ford guy for over 50 years, but I just don’t understand why the need for this design. In my opinion, removal process is better than the 3 valve Triton plugs with less breakage possibility but what gains are we achieving over 1 plug from the top? Certainly isn’t a big improvement in mpg.The mpg needle hasn’t moved in years. Sometimes I think the engineers are just in it for the “look of what I came up with” to justify their salary.

If you rotate your tires every 10k miles and change your spark plugs every 100k miles (that’s supposedly what the intervals are) then they should line up with each other. So as you’re rotating tires you can change the spark plugs. Knock out two birds with one stone so to speak.
@dickritchie25962 жыл бұрын
I thought the change interval was 80k miles for the plugs? I have a ‘17 F-250. Thx for the 411.
@francesco19982 жыл бұрын
@@dickritchie2596 if that’s what the interval says than definitely go with that. It should still like up with the tire rotations since they’re both 10k mile intervals
