@Notasheepleandneverwillbe2 жыл бұрын
This truck stayed the same body and frame for over 30 years . The only real change was the switch from I-beam front suspension to dual wishbone in 1997 I believe . Most people consider this to be the third gen Ranger , but it's actually the 5th . The first Ranger was just a trim level on the f100 pickup , the second was a rebadged Mazda courier . The one that everyone calls the first gen was actually the third truck to wear the ranger name . I personally have a 2003 Ranger Edge two wheel drive extra cab . Mine is the 4 l V6 and 5-speed automatic . My dad has two 1 ton Dooley dodges that I could borrow or use whenever I want . But I don't like driving something that big I especially don't like trying to park something that big . And even though the V6 doesn't get 4 cylinder gas mileage . My truck gets about 22 miles per gallon , and that's exactly the same as what the turboed 4 cylinder in the new ranger gets . When your vehicle only weighs 3,000 lb and spends most of its time only spinning the engine at about 1500 RPM . Even the V6 isn't too much money in fuel , and having 207 horsepower can make it real fun when you want it to .

GREAT truck, I had a 02 2.3L five speed since I was 15 but hurricane micheal totaled it out for me, luckily enough I was able to find my new one shortly after the hurricane around Christmas that same year. And it’s a five speed as well which was the main selling point for me, I’ve only ever driven a manual and I don’t like automatics. It’s great, 4L v6, good solid four wheel drive and the two jump seats in the back. Electric windows too which was hard to get used to at first because my old one was manual windows and I still find myself reaching for the handle sometimes lol. Gets decent fuel economy too, just gatta shift at no more than 2k rpms, and on the highway keep the speed at or below 70 (bout 22/2300 rpms) and it gets about 22 mpg. I LOVE my ranger, in my opinion the best truck ford ever made.
