Best Le Mans I have watched and this was the first one I watched and what a battle between Audi and Peugeot after 24 hours only 13 seconds between them unheard of. This is one along with 2008 is Audi's best wins at Le Mans and considering they lost 2 cars in huge accidents and the #2 managed to outrun the other Peugeot's was amazing. Such a shame that both of them are now no longer at Le Mans.

If that lapped Peugeot had pulled that stunt in an FIA event it would gotten black flagged. I was really happy when Audi won this race considering that the ACO was very cleary in Peugeot’s back pocket

Rewatching this race remembered me how big Peugeot fan I was as a kid. Not only result disappointed me, but even more that they scrapped Hybrid4 for next year, where maybe they would have even better shot than that year.

Tense race. Great memories... Do you have the 2001 race coverage ?

I find it very moving for some reason when the flagman steps onto the track to wave the checkered flag. It feels like a sign of honor to the drivers that he meets them as they go by rather than waving from a distant (albeit safer) tower or other flag stand. He honors them with his trust that they will drive safely around him. I dunno. And a finish line after a tight chicane seems a rather risky place to be.

I downloaded this somewhere many years ago and held on to it. It's impossible to upload 2014, or any of the recent years for that matter, gets blocked by youtube immediately. I tried. Search the internet every year after the race, this stuff usualy disappears after a few weeks.
