Piece of added advice-The shop that did mine replaced the valley plate with a new one as they can warp. They also used a RTV sealant used on UPS trucks that is good for a million miles (so they say). I wouldn't want to use the same sealant that went bad unless Toyota has an improved version. I still can't figure out why they just didn't use a gasket. This was on a 2011 IS-F as well. And all the injector clips will need to be replaced. Great Video-thank You.

Thank so much for this video I bought my ISF last year and I notice my heater would get cold when it’s at idle during the winter. I work at a Lexus dealership and my technician said it’s your valley plate and i saw forms saying $1000 to $2000 for just replacing the seal but I haven’t seen any major coolant leaks but I do check on it but again Thank You because you’re literally the only person that has made a video for this.

Just a piece of advice, the fuel injectors will and can crack upon removal and installation. More on the driver side each injector is around 350 at the dealer (US) a rebuilt injector is a waste of time they will crack just plugging them in or trying to remove the pigtail. BE extremely careful, I have done a few the last one I did takes the cake. Under that intake is a motherload of heat that fries everything. The other part of this video I did not have to pull the starter wire I hung the harness over to the driver side with a tie.

You are the first tech I've seen to actually spread the silicon (FIPG) around on both sides, using your finger, which I absolutely love. Do you follow spreading it on both sides with a single bead all the way around the top or was that thick looking FIPG just the large amount you spread with your finger? @@alltsab Lucky for you the 1UR-FSE has the same problem! I put mine back together today only to realize that the valley plate did not seal, coolant all over the ground. Not sure where I went wrong, I'm wondering if I accidentally over-torqued the bolts causing the FIPG to squish out too far..? I should have tested it prior... but It did only happen after the coolant system was under pressure.

@1OMEGA1113 жыл бұрын
@@alltsab Ah no, I found this video today while trying to find why it leaked. I should have tested it, but was under the impression that It would need to be leak tested while the engine was running. Though it did only seem to start leaking after it was under pressure... I Did not realize it was possible to test while the intake was off. I was thinking that as well, though I dipped the o-rings in coolant to act as something of a lubricant during install. So I dont think they'd be twisted, but maybe pushed out of the groove? Though the orings are my guess for the leak as the only issue I can think of with the plate would be that it was over-torqued, I set my torque wrench to 15ftlbs but could have tightened a few bolts a few ftlbs over, though I cant imagine the difference of a few ftlbs would have caused that much of a leak.
@1OMEGA1113 жыл бұрын
@@stevekalesia3922 I pinched the oring on the large pipe that connects the plate to the pump. It got caught and rolled backwards when I put it in so it was just spewing coolant Replaced it and more carefully installed the plate, on a side-note, I just took it apart again for a different reason and the seal has held (I used permatex "the right stuff" rtv)

In my opinion you have a nice car don't used those garbage stop leak it will create cluster problems to your system. It will clog up your radiator and heater core.

You absolutely right but you have to wait for it dry out first. I used Carb cleaner is dry fast so I don't have to wait long. Thanks for a great advice.

All Tsab Why not Orielly brake cleaner on a rag? I find Orielly brake cleaner works better than any other brand I’ve tried including CRC Also, I would have used Permatex Ultrablack Gasket Maker ( pictured below ) instead of the clear silicone again, the clear silicone failed once. The Ultrablack is extremely tough. BUT I could be wrong, you may know something I don’t. Please correct me if I’m wrong. I have 20+ years experience BUT there’s many things I don’t know. Still learning everyday. www.permatex.com/products/gasketing/ultra-series-gasket-makers/permatex-ultra-black-maximum-oil-resistance-rtv-silicone-gasket-maker-4/

Om shocked to learn that they used silicone to seal instead of a gasket. That is a real disapointment. These cars cost big bucks & you think youre buying something thats not going to need this type of repair. NOT GOOD ENOUGH toyota!!!
