2011 Mazda2 | Blower Motor Resistor Replacement (DIY)

As you can see in the video, only high speed worked (speed 4) with my HVAC blower. After some research and a great suggestion by mercmilan06 (you should sub to his channel), I replaced my blower motor resistor. Enjoy!

What if nothing works? Would it be the blower motor or the resistor?

Great question. I'm no mechanic, but here is what I might be inclined to do: First, I would start to check fuses since that is easy and cheap. Next, I would see if replacing the resistor fixes it since it's not that expensive and quite easy (although I think that could be less likely since nothing works at all). Lastly, yes, the blower motor might be it. I'd probably bring it to a trustworthy independent mechanic and get their advice. If anyone else in the community has input, let's help Natalie out.

how did you know it was the resistor and not the blower motor? because it worked on the 4th setting? i have no function of air blowing when turned to each setting.

peg dunn yes; since it worked on the 4th setting I knew the motor wasn’t dead. I’m not so sure about none of the settings working, but replacing the resistor is cheap, easy, and would rule it out when troubleshooting.

@@MikeVT i just did my blower motor. You get to it under the driver side floor under the dash. It was a b*tch, have to pull brake booster out a bit and remove brake and gas pedal. Then remove the bracket that brake pedal, gas pedal and booster is bolted to. Youll have enough room to take out the blower motor. The new motor blows more than the old motor when it was still working.
