Yesterday i had to work in a Yaris iA 2019, guy took it for service and they recommend a bunch of "upgrades" into the exterior and interior lights system, and after that car was going crazy, check engine, abs, traction control ligth, came on randomly, so obviously the shop wash their hands and says is not related and they don't have time to check the car again, i get called and thanks to YOU as soon as i heard AFTERMARKET LED where installed i went, this is going to be the issue, it had a bunch of Brake Switch circuit A and B correlation, and realized that if you turn your low beams on, the third brake light would turn on, and in the live data the circuit would change to "applied" but the B circuit would stay at "not applied", with lights off, the switch would work perfectly on its own, so i dont know how but the rear led light/brake bulb made current pass through the brake light circuit without pressing the pedal and made the ecm think the brake switch was bad, replaced all the LED with regular bulbs, and 13+ DTC when away, thanks man my brain now is " aftermarket= probably crap"

On my car i had the dome light also changed, bot not some funny behavior.. i solderd some 220k resistor across, the light, to get the dimming funcion back… maybe it will help? And thanks for the advice. I had to run normally after poorly installed 12/240V inverter with an crying customer and at least one dead battery 😂

Maybe they installed a single filament light where a dual filament goes and the connection was bridging between the 2 circuits
@juankrajo38749 күн бұрын
@nima20031 it was a weird Chinese bulb it look like it had the 4 "legs" like the dual filaments do, but maybe internally they were breaching

I've reached the point where I test both the old and the new before installation. Usually as simple as just checking resistance but it gives sorts things out before my scan tool goes crazy. Less fun in the cold so an extra appreciation for this video. Thanks for Sharing! 🙃🙂

You had already read that voltage limit earlier. lol. (7:55). I was wondering why you weren't seeing that or making note of it when you started your piercing probes... I get it though. It's easy to forget- or to read over a lot of stuff and things don't really register the first time you read it......... and I agree: I never throw away parts, even after it's fixed. I may need to come back to this problem a month later/ or may need to st3al something off of the old part, like a pigtail or whatever else. I just always keep the old parts until I get rid of the car.. throwing things out is always the wrong move. Edit: Oh, I guess you even noted that you missed it earlier. hahah.. cool stuff

@@advancedleveldiagnostics It happens.. I'm bad with reading comprehension if there are too many words in the sentence that I'm not really familiar with. lol.. I have to stop and read it again like 5 times; and even then, it won't register until I watch a video about it and fully understand what it's actually saying. Thank god for videos-- I wouldn't get very far by just reading things.

Can you zoom in on that little scope ?
@advancedleveldiagnostics9 күн бұрын
I don't think there is a zoom in after you capture the waveform like the pico. You can always lower the voltage to get a closer look if it's live.

With all the problems the aftermarket sensors cause, I am baffled as to why shops and DIYers keep going down this rabbit hole.
@tyberzann971310 күн бұрын
Normally you can buy aftermarket parts from the, say sensor manufacturer themself, but the crappy party are still there and cheap. If you know where to buy and what to buy, you are good to go. Even as an workshop, or DIYer, haha.
