So far a better video on the TCM, I have a 2010 Mazda 5, before I buy the TCM I want to be sure it's the connection or the TCM. Because what's happening is, communication failure, but at some point it reconnect itself and smooth driving, I will park it, next day no communication, I will than touch a bit on the connector wires, somehow it returns to life, but not always the case...

Worked on a lot of these over the years at Nissan. Don’t really think I’ve ever came across the fuel pressure too high issue tho. Our tests are quite stupid honestly. Either it’s the pump or harness/connector issue. It’s a quick and dirty test but unplugging the solenoid on the hp should cause the solenoid to revert back to bypass and the pressure should drop to around whatever the low side pressure is not really a sound testing method but it’s a quick way to find out if your mechanically screwed

Try 7 bad starters in a row 8th one was good 👍 lasted 3 months. I absolutely refuse to buy anything electric or electronically controlled from autozone. They should change their slogan to.. built not to last duracrap! I've had issues with sensors, control valves, alternators, starters, fuel pumps you name it! When you're a shop you have to be able to depend on the parts you buy! Time is money! The more time you spend changing crappy new parts the more it cost the shop

At 18:05. They replaced a valve, but they don't have AutoAuth to check codes!? Wtf? Why in the hell are they replacing parts on a system they can't access? 😂😅

The Duralast Gold NEW alternators are good. The rebuilds are from BBB Industries which is the same company that does all the house brand auto parts store rebuilds. Denso, ACDelco, Motorcraft and a few others are good rebuilds.

Was it a reman or new alternator from autozone ? I have really good success with new alternators and starters from AZ. Both reman from AZ and orielly is a crap shoot but orielly rarely offers new units for anything.
@glen._w_8283 күн бұрын
Some 1999-2006 Silverado have 3 different alternator types. And then you got 1500, or 2500/2500HD, 3500/3500HD and each of those trims and models have different engines and then different alternators for different engines 😂 people buying parts just ask for whatever is cheapest. End up paying 2 times as more or even 3 like this guy here
@advancedleveldiagnostics3 күн бұрын
The shop told me that AutoZone only had two listings for this vehicle, a 105 amp and a 130 amp. They got the 130amp. I figure it was the wrong one that's why I told him to try a diffrent supplier.
@glen._w_8283 күн бұрын
@ yeah, probably wrong one, or just bad parts. Ran into similar problem and learned the 99-02 3500hd with 6.0 gas has 3 alternator options. Have to be specific

The auto parts stores are saying F-U to us by buying crap and putting it into their own boxes. Buy from places like Rockauto online, where you know who made the part you're buying, and where you pay a lot less than Autozone charges for junk but you get a quality party. I routinely get name brand parts for 60% of what Autozone charges for crap like these broken alternators.

This is exactly why as a mobile mechanic I try to have the customer purchase quality parts and not buy house brand or remanufactured parts. This is also why I will not put a remanufactured alternator in a customers car anymore. I understand that sometimes the customers budget can dictate which parts they can afford, but it's usually not much more for a quality part or a new (non remanufactured) part. These days, people try to save a few dollars upfront and they end up spending way more on the back end.
@rmacuil54 күн бұрын
Well the thing is those alternators presented in the video. Are remanufacured alternators. New alternators come painted in black or a silverish color. No matter what brand it is, the remanufactured alternators are a 50/50 shot of working. While the 100% new ones are more expensive, but always work

In the wiring diagram it said "2001 only" on the grey wire, so maybe the parts guys had the wrong alternator for that exact year. I'll bet those two bad devices are put right back on the shelf for the next customer. i was a little surprised you didn't pursue the bad cluster ground but it sounds like the customer will do that himself. Another eye opening video.
@advancedleveldiagnostics4 күн бұрын
I saw that also, that's why I assumed it was the wrong alternator but they only had 1 listing so I told them to get one from another supplier. I didn't chase the cluster ground because the alternator was working with the bad ground. I can only work on what I'm hired for.

@@advancedleveldiagnosticsthey use the same alts from 96-2007 and 2007.5-18 alts will also work it’s ain’t a wrong alt problem it’s that the regulator on the inside comes unpinned because it’s a remained one

The alternator is probably okay. The main issues with rebuilt alternators is that it probably has the wrong regulator. Sometimes it changes pin locations from year to year. Thanks again.
@reeldeelz29404 күн бұрын
Cool.. wrong regulator .. is there a reason they cannot test for that before it gets to the store?
@Arthur-sz7uf4 күн бұрын
@reeldeelz2940 I'm not sure if they can test that accurately. Ohming out the pins don't tell everything. If the engine computer doesn't like what it sees, it will set a code or turn on the battery light.
