I have a 2010 Forester 2.5x Premium and I love it. Not one problem. It's never missed a beat and the AWD system is the best. My parents have a 2010 CRV AWD and it's terrible in the snow. They can't even get up there driveway at times when it snows but my Forester goes up it with no problems. They're gonna trade it before this winter for a Forester lol.

my family had a 2009 Forester L.L. Bean (sort of like the 2.5X Touring) and we loved everything about the car, only downside we had was the passenger front seat is randomly about 3 inches lower than the drivers seat. The 4 speed automatic was plenty responsive, outdated sure, but I'd have a 4 speed over a non responsive CVT any day. Ours also didn't get 21/27mpg but got about 23/31 Ours was the Partial Zero Emission model as seen in this video. That package is mandated in I think 12 states.

I'm thinking about selecting this vehicle for my sister, who goes to UAlbany. Since there's more likely to be ice and snow in the winter in Albany, NY, the Subaru Forester will outhandle any other small crossover in terrible conditions such as snow. Kelsey also forgot to mention that there is a windshield wiper de-icer in this trim level!

i tried to get my dad to get this for my mom instead of the CR-V. he wouldn't go for it because he didn't like the way it looked. really? it looks great and compared to the cr-v its fantastic! plus, you don't see many on the roads

Why is everyone complaining about the CVT? I test drove the 2014 xt and it has paddle shift so it cancels out the CVT and shifts perfect as soon as you hit the paddle. I drive an 06 Tribeca and I want to trade it for the forester
@johnpa200611 жыл бұрын
At least he didn't complain about thigh support like he does in 99% of all his other reviews. He is ruthless and rips into every car he talks about. If he ever gives a car a thumbs up it must come with Jesus in the passenger seat. He gave this Subie a scalding yet semi good review. And he dissed the XT totally.

Will this sub get the new 2.0 motor for 2012?

@76carmel Yea, I used to work for Nissan. I just think that putting a CVT in a car like that would ruin it. For on-road only SUV's and SAV's such as the murano, rogue etc are fine. But if i go offroading in a forester, I want gears. lol

Saw the brochure from this car also but it looks outdated and behind the curve in new technology. But again, some people to love it. Great commercials can't get me into one.

This forester (the one they tested) is $29068. I can forgive a cheap subcompact for that but not something that costs this much.

@tcbecht88 Subaru has 5 speed autos in the boxer 6 engines for the Outback and Tribeca. The other Boxer-4 engines that come with the Impreza, Outback, and Legacy have CVTs. I agree with you there, but it's more likely that Subaru will take that route.
@AnontheGOAT13 жыл бұрын
@stanbernadino Yeah kinda lame, BUT...my '08 Legacy has it and honestly its pretty good. Its got plenty of power for its size and I get 27 city and up to 34 hwy.
@76carmel13 жыл бұрын
@tcbecht88 This is what Subaru has, but I understand why people don't like CVts. They rev high, but never upshifts when you want. The only manufacturer that seems to work with their vehicles most effectively is Nissan; most of their autos and crossovers except for I believe the trucks and sports cars (Z and GT-R, a super dream machine for around $90k) are CVTs.
@DisneyMusicVideos13 жыл бұрын
Subaru seriously needs to step up their game in transmissions. Many of their vehicles use 4 & 5 speed auto's when most of the rest of the competition uses 6, 7 & 8 Speed autos.

@76carmel I would NEVER put a CVT, in a Forester, lol. But at the very least a 5sp. I'm trying to convince my wife to get one, but she was quick to point out that a 2012 Kia Sportage comes with smart key, AWD, Panorama sunroof, etc for the same price... and it's "prettier". lol I'm all for Subaru, but they'll have to catch up on some creature comforts before I drop $30k on one.
@hottdylan199313 жыл бұрын
I'm actually glad it didn't come with a smart key system, which is one of the reasons I bought one of these. and as for the 4 speed, I really don't mind it, I mean come on people it's a 27k dollar car, are you expecting an Escalade?
