Awesome tutorial. It's amazing that that little box- the vacuum pump- makes that big of a mess when it leaks. How much does it cost for the whole replacement (parts & labor)?

Thank you! It does make a huge mess, one that of the biggest leaks on the 2.5L. Per my Mitchell shop estimator the labor is 6.1 hours and the part is $200-300 depending on where you get it from. Could be a $1000 job depending on the price of labor per hour.

I replaced the vacuum pump, but now getting Faulty Stability Control error code. any idea how to fix it? Is it related to the transmission range sensor alignment?

You would have to scan the abs to see what codes you have first. It may be related but its unlikely.

I changed out my vacuum pump but now the shifter won’t engage the s gear Prnd engage do you think it’s transmission range sensor not aligned or the shifter cable stretched?

It’s very doubtful that the cable stretched, what is it fine before you replaced the vacuum pump? If so, somethings probably out of adjustment. I usually line the range sensor back at its original place by using the bolt hole markings where they were previously.

@@drewsshoplife the range sensor doesn’t have that much adjustment meant and where ever I move the range sensor it still won’t go into S but if I grab the shifter bracket I can manually push it into S. Does the bracket that the shifter cable connect to have some type of adjustment?

It may have an adjustment, on the cable is there like a 10mm bolt near the range sensor?

@@drewsshoplife yeah it a 10MM nut with a crush washer but it looks like it’s slotted and only goes on one way

Per my Mitchell shop program it says it’s a bolt and that’s what I remember it being. I would try adjusting it and see what happens.

It's transmission oil or engine oil?

The vacuum runs off the engines timing chain so it would be engine oil.

What is the purpose for marking the bolts that hold onto the nuetral safety switch ? I marked mine and it got erased when I was tightening them up

It’s to mark the adjusted location of the neutral safety switch. I mark it to make sure I install it in the original location so I don’t have to adjust it hopefully.

It’s better to delete the pump. Also, the 2.5 motor never came with a DSG.
