great how you explain everything but you do it after it's already done. i would suggest getting a tripod or something so you can record yourself while you're doing this, from the start to finish, instead of having people wonder what you did before the vid for each section starts or between cuts.. just imo

Is there a seal around the entire door panel? Should we be applying anything to the seal while installing the panel back on? Also, any risk is taking sounds after panel is removed and installed back in?

where do you get those 6.5s brackets? I have some Pionneer 5. 1/4s and want to get 6.5s components in that location, but i want GOOD SOLID brackets to cover the ENTIRE whole to make a decent "seal" around the new speakers. thanks. keep up the good work!

Those brackets came with the alpine SPS-610 speakers from Alpine. You can pick up civic specific brackets for this year from crutchfield, however, this customer vehicle didn't want to spend them money on them. They made a decent seal around the speaker, but even if you buy a better bracket, you will still have other "air" leaks through other holes in the door. If you want a better seal for mid bass, i highly recommend sound deadening the door.

They are removed by pulling straight up (not outwards)

How much space is there between the new speakers and the grill on the door skin, do you need to add anything to stop vibrations. One of the speakers on my wifes car the cone separated from the coil and makes a hell of a racket now. So I want to replace them but the few speakers I looked at today with their mounting ring give me the impression that I might have the door skin vibrating against the new speakers. And if I wanted to go a step further adding a small amp for the front speakers, where would be the best place for the amp, somewhere out of sight.

Is the factory stereo enough to power and obtain good quality sound with the new alpine speakers? Do I need an ampler for that? Thanks!

No, you would be better off adding an amp. These can handle up to 75w RMS and factory radios really only put out 10-15w RMS

I have this same car/year 2012. The speakers are ok but not great. If I get those Alpine without adding any Xtra power, front and back will it sound much better?

I’m surprised there was no problems! Usually when there is a stock speaker with a lifted plastic ring it’s to prevent the window from hitting the magnet when it’s all the way down!

not accurate but around 110, factory honda speakers are shit, at 100W they start to buzz, if you go any higher sound becomes distorted, factory radio is not capable for getting them to this point though, only decent aftermarket one can

What about the tweeters on the A pillars? Aren't those connected with the door speakers? A component setup?

This model wasn't equipped with tweeters, so we didn't bother adding any. However, if you have a pair of tweeters in a component configuration, you can certainly replace them.

i was able to order the A pillars with the pre cut outs for the tweeters from the manufacturer for 2012 honda civic. Works great and easier than customizing existing A pillars. No, as long as the key is off, the radio is off. So no voltage is going to the speakers.

Those alpines are very decent for power and clarity. You may also see a boost in performance if you amplify them as well. Alpine and Rockford Fosgate are good brands, but remember you get what you pay for and these speakers are necessarily designed for "bass" as they generally handle 80hz and up only.

NeATaNDtURdy the sound will sound clearer and have a higher range of lows and highs (depending on what kind of speaker you get), but it won’t be very much louder by just replacing the speaker itself. If you want loudness installing an amp is the way to go. Hope everything works out for ya

I ran into the same thing until i took a flathead screwdriver to the top where the mounting hole was on the speaker. It was stuck on there real good due to the adhesive they had on the back of said speaker.

It depends, if you purchase the American International HSB524, it will give you more space to fit speakers.If you go directly to the door panel, you lose about .5" mounting depth.

These run fine without an amp (like in the video), but they perform optimally when amplified with around 75w RMS @ 4 oms.
