Thanks for sharing this. I have a couple of suggestions. American International HSB524 Speaker Mounting Brackets are available to adapt speakers to 8th Generation Civics. They are about $13. Your method does save a few bucks and that is beneficial. I think the mounting brackets may be more secure and save some time. Metra 72-7800 Speaker Wiring Harness will adapt the speakers. They are about $10.

Thanks for sharing your efforts, Sam. Doing same job on an '02 civic coupe. Speaker bracket is different and a little undersized for the Alpines I'm putting in. But then, your sinking in the screws inspired me to try something similar: gonna try having the screws grab on the outside of the housing. Fingers crossed there's enough friction and it gets the job done. Meanwhile, gotta find a modest waterproofing solution. Found the stock speakers water damaged and the inner door wet. Good thing it's raining today!

Oof, no fun. These do really well for me, I'd say. If you EQ your phone and/or have a manual bass and treble control on a Bluetooth device for your system and crank it, it sounds good.

Hello gotta question so i got a 97 Honda civic the front speakers are 6'1/2 can it fit 6x5 speakers?

Hey xRevxnge, I believe that should work. 6'1/2 should be the same as 6x5 or you can even word it as "6.5" but they should all be the same. If you see different websites like amazon or Best Buy and type in 6x5 speakers, they will have items with that size and then "6.5."

It works great all i had to do was take off the old panel that hold the old speakers and drill new holes for the 6.5 speakers sounds nice ty again

I have a nice set of 6x9s I want to replace in the rear deck which are 6.5s stock. Do you guys think they will fit under the stock speaker grilles? I will cut the hole to fit the magnet / cone. Thanks

You might be able to fit the grilles if you trim some parts of the grille itself. Just an idea. Haven't needed to do that yet but if you do it, let us know how it works out!

Yea already tried that, 6x9 wont fit in the 6.5 stock. You’re gonna have to cut metal pieces off the mount so they could fit. Speaker grills on the other hand wont give you an exact fit. Had to work my around to get them to fit. But overall the 6x9 offers much better sound quality than the standard 6.5’s

Has anyone tried to clean the terminals properly befor rushing out and finding out new speakers dont fit properly so you have to buy spacers too

This is a good one. It very well could be your amp. Did you notice you had to make your volume louder and louder over time?

@@GTSam ye more louder volume so the music can be heard throughout the car.. if the music isnt loud only the trunk has music playing

@@af1boost583 the speakers might have just gone out too. Try swapping back to front to see if it changes anything. Of course, might not fit perfectly but just for testing.

Thanks for your feedback! The reason I replaced my speakers were that they were blown out so I wanted some decent replacements to get all ranges. Thus, these. This is my Civic so it's my every day car so it runs well, looks... Well...looks okay, comfy and now has good enough speakers. If it was my Acura, it would be a totally different story for quality. But, yes, adding some more equipment would make it better.

I like the video. If you want a typical install with all the aftermarket accessories, then watch a crutchfield video or one from a custom sound system installer. This channel has provided a low buck option for those who don’t have the funds or the desire to spend a lot on what is a commuter vehicle to most. I installed rear speakers in my 2011 Civic and cut out the speakers to use as brackets just as he did. I forgot to buy adapters and it worked just fine- no issues, no rattles. It is possible to install accessories in your car with some basic mechanical knowledge. You don’t always have to buy every install kit on the market to achieve good results
