If my radiator got replaced last year and water pump 2 years ago what could be leaking lots of coolant? If I crank my A/c up it'll leak even more quicker...
@Guido194 ай бұрын
@@johnnyrodriguez276 hmm sounds like it could be ac related. How does your ac work? Is it for sure leaking coolant or is it refrigeration?

Mines leak from the drain plug it’s self at the bottom what should I do???
@Guido195 күн бұрын
@ it’s probably just the oring that’s on the drain plug that needs to be replaced. I would just get a whole new drain plug if it was me. They are like $6 and that will insure it’s got new threads and everything. I replace my drain plug every other oil change

I’ve got 2012 Impala 3.6l with 300,000 and still runs like new.
@bradmccoppin21946 ай бұрын
Hello, I have a 2012 impala with 3.6l. If you look at page 12-2 in your owner's manual, it tells you fluid capacities. The cooling system is 9.1 qts. When you drain the system with the petcock you only get a gallon out, so you still have over a gallon in the system, that is why I put 1 gallon of distilled water back in and drove it, to let it mix and drained again, I repeated these steps until the water was clear, then I put in 1 Gallon of full concentrate Dexcool in, not 50/50, and if you need to top off the system then you can use 50/50.
@extremeinternets5 ай бұрын
Your video is spot on, you'll get about a gallon out through the petcock. I figure if you change out a gallon every 2-3 years you should always have reasonably fresh coolant. And you're right, it is self bleeding, that's what the small hose that runs from beneath the ps res to the coolant tank does.

Thanks for the video! Everything was the exactly same on my 2013 Chevy Impala LS 3.6. The only exception was it took about 1 1/4th gallons of coolant. I let it drain for close to two hours, it kept dripping which didn't look like much but I suspect that's why it took a little more. Mine has 46,000 miles on it.

So since you only changed half you should drive it awhile then do it again. Then again every 2-3 years unless you get all 2 gallons out. You can disconnect a heater hose and blow air in one side to push some out there.

Great video. I have a 9th Gen 2016 Limited LTZ. Any idea on how much coolant I'd need for a flush? I have a shop near me I can take my cars to & he'll do the labor, I take the parts to him. So wondering how many gallons I'd need to get. Also what kind/brand of headlights you running? Look like LED's. Thanks!
@Guido192 ай бұрын
@@HuskerRed11 I would say around 9 quarts as that is the coolant capacity that the impala holds. You could probably drain it like I show in this video and run distilled water and a cleaner if need be but I’m not really a fan of those and then just drain it again. My headlights are the auto one brand. They are super bright

I am a mobile mechanic. I just did a radiator because it was cracked on an Impala yesterday. I ran the car for about 40 minutes with heater on blast to let all the air burp out now the customer is calling me back saying it’s still overheating . I was having my doubts that it could’ve been that I did not bleed correctly, but after watching this video, I know I did my job correctly so whatever is causing it to reheat it’s not anything that I did. 😅
@Guido198 ай бұрын
Yeah most likely there’s something else wrong with the vehicle possibly water pump or thermostat. On the 2012+ the reservoir has a self burper so it burps the system itself

@@Guido19wait so there’s no bleeder screw near the radiator? I just watched a video where there’s a bleeder screw
@Guido196 ай бұрын
@@snackwad1952 hmmm not of my knowledge but there’s no need to mess with it as it burps itself
@extremeinternets5 ай бұрын
Here's what happened- they lost their coolant, overheated it and blew a head gasket and now they're trying to blame it on you.

Let it run with the reservoir cap OFF to burp it.
@Guido198 ай бұрын
No need! The reservoir on the 2012 impala’s automatically bleeds and burps the system with the cap on. If you watch the end of the video the exact amount of coolant that came out went back in
