2012-2016 Impala/Limited (MCE 9th Gen) 3.6 LFX Radiator Hose Replacement + Coolant Drain & Fill

The weather outside is... Unpleasent!! Therefore I will not be recording any new material until this Spring. In the meantime, enjoy this flashback to 2019 when I had a 2012 Impala that I was replacing the upper and lower radiator hoses and performing a coolant system drain and fill.

Regarding the lack of a radiator cap, I had a Ford F-150 without one that the Lisle Coolant Fill Kit actually fit the reservoir and made "burping" the system very easy. I wonder if they make one for this engine. Hope so, I'm buying a Gen 9 Impala in the next few days and I'm a DIY guy.

The 3.6 LFX in the 2012+ 9th Gen is self-burping. I can confirm the Lisle kit you mention has fittings that are compatible with the 3.5 V6 that was in the 2006-2011's.

I have a 2016 Limited, would you say the Beamtech LED's are still the route you would go with still today? Considering the DRL's? Thanks? Or have you found another brand that's working better in your opinion? Also on these cars would it be ok to use a H11 for the H9 high beam bulb?

I'm still running the same set of Beamtechs I bought 5 years ago!! My stepson recently bought Beamtechs, same listing as mine, but they appear to be updated - heat sink is a bit different and the "bulb" part is a bit more streamlined. They're just as good as the originals, IMHO. So I would still recommend them. And yes, you can use the H11 in the high beam socket.

Hello, is there a way to replace your power steering fluid on a 2012 impala. I watched some videos where they removed the low-pressure side of the pump, and turned the steering wheel from lock to lock and kept the reservoir topped off while it all pumped out on the low side until they got clean fluid coming out. I only see one hose on the reservoir?

I've always just extracted all the fluid from the reservoir and replaced it with fresh stuff. I'll then drive it around for a couple days and do another drain and fill. Try something like this to extract the fluid: www.amazon.com/Thorstone-Automotive-Extractor-Syringe-Evacuator/dp/B0B27SKZ4V
