You could also fit a spring inside the hose to prevent collapse
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
That would work well too. Good point.

After installing catch can on boost side I get a check engine light, I’m not sure if it’s bad sensor or just crap hosing. Can someone help me thanks

What's the code?

How do you know if your hose collapses does it throw a code or can you see it?
@fdurango4 ай бұрын
You’ll get a check engine light immediately on your dash

use fuel line instead and it won,t collapse. No pex needed

Heater hose is not hydrocarbon resistant. It will eventually swell and soften up. Transmission or power steering hose would be better, and would also most likely be rigid enough not to cave in on itself.

I had the same issue and just replaced the hoses that came with my kit with fuel hoses from Autozone. No more issues.

What hoses did you buy?@@alangates5941

Those cheap amazon catch cans now come with a new kind of hose. Anyone know if it's good enough?
@alangates59416 ай бұрын
@@waynefilkins8394 For the difference in price of the catch cans, go for it. My extra hose cost $20, so all-in-all, it was better buying the cheaper catch can. My Ford F150 has a hard vacuum, which you may not have to deal with. That is what causes the cheaper hoses to collapse once they get oil and water inside them.

These ones don't have the filter so I was wondering if anyone has tested these cheap ones vs the more expensive ones with the bronze filters?

Do you have a gas smell after installing it? I installed mines and there is a gas/crankcase smell. I’ve checked and there’s no leaks, is it natural for it to smell?
@JackofAllMasterofNone2 жыл бұрын
No smell at all

Not clear on the boost side you didn’t show the in or the out , I’m not sure you showed the vacuum side
@MB-jx1yq Жыл бұрын
A good parts store and counter man will get you the vacuum hose
@waynefilkins83946 ай бұрын
what about those ones on amazon with an air filter sticking out the top? Is that a good idea to get or can it cause a vacuum leak or loss of pressure or something?
@JackofAllMasterofNone6 ай бұрын
This is part of the sealed system and that would very quickly trigger a check engine light and cause a lean condition
@waynefilkins83946 ай бұрын
@@JackofAllMasterofNone Yeah that's what I was thinking since normally it's just that little sealed off vacuum line. I'm going to get the ones without the air filter then.
@bhshakari10 ай бұрын
How did you figure out that the hose was getting compressed?
@JackofAllMasterofNone10 ай бұрын
There is vacuum and you could see the hose collapsing.

Can you update on how.much oil you catch in boost side after 10,000 miles? I wonder if its worth the effort.
@JackofAllMasterofNone7 ай бұрын
About halfway full. Its definitely worth it. Its more than oil. Its a water/oil/gas mixture of crap that would be all over the back of your valves. I check it at 5,000 miles at each oil change. 10,000 miles is way too long, especially on a boosted engine, to go between changes.

Why doesn't Ford do this at the factory?
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
Because they just want you to get through warranty They don't really care about the longevity

This doesn't seem very easy or simple
@JackofAllMasterofNone Жыл бұрын
Relatively compared to most vehicle modifications. And way cheaper than a kit made to do it.
@bhshakari10 ай бұрын
If you can change your own oil and rotate your own tires, you can install a catch can. It's almost as simple as making pasta.

And now you gotta put a puke tank on it the more I hear about these things the more I know I’ll NEVER own one what a POS
@JackofAllMasterofNone5 ай бұрын
Any turbocharged engine should have a catch can. It doesn't make them a POS.
