It’s the only modern car I know of that isn’t bogged down with 10,000 computer modules and unnecessary complications. They are so popular all over the world for this reason. Just hope you never have to buy an oxygen sensor or a fuel filter lol.

Thanks for the help! Same layout as a 2018, changed the laser iridium plugs at 62k upon dealer recommendation, idles and shifts better. A lot of corrosion on the ground electrode

That hose that you take out of the clip @3:32 is just open to the air and not supposed to be attached to a fitting correct?

@@SolarAbyss That's another beauty about the Mitsubishi Mirage. No planned obsolescence since 2012. It is the cheapest new car I have ever bought. And it has been the lowest cost to maintain. I finally bought 3 laser-cut iridium plugs, because, why not splurge, right? All three cost me an whopping 30 bucks! lol Car has 180,000 miles on it and still had the original plugs. Changing to the new ones restored the original gas mileage and it shifted better, probably because it was shifting up the hills prematurely due to a little bit of lost power. After 180,000 miles on the same plugs I saw my gas consumption change on log trips from 64 miles per gallon to 55 miles per gallon. Boohoo! lol For a gas car, you really can;t beat this thing!! In city driving I get slightly better than EPA. I also notice how other cars from 2014 have opaque headlamps. Mine are still clear as new and I don;t even garage mine.

On 3:22 you mention a hose under it, what hose is that for? I found it just hanging in there and not connected to anything 🤔

What size should the gap be, I have seen many times spark plugs be a good bit off fresh out the box,
@YOUCANIC
@YOUCANIC 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your question! The gap size for spark plugs can indeed vary. Although specifics depend on your vehicle's make and model, typical gaps range between 0.028" - 0.060". You'll want to cross-check with your manufacturer's specs for accuracy. Need more detailed information? They supposedly last 120k but at the end of their life they can put additional stress on the ignition coils and they cost a lot more. I’m at 75k on my ‘17 model and plan to do this soon to keep good performance and avoid a more expensive repair. Get the OEM spark plugs and double check the gaps. On Mirages it really matters that they are OEM.

@@mrgrind210should last longer, but as someone picky that's what I'd do on my Corolla. Forgot I changed mine once and changed it sooner. . . But my wife had added motor oil to the gas instead of my gasoline additive so that's why it felt needed. Still good after a clean up.

@@TcoloTManufacturers recommendations aren't our friends in this case as they're competing with other cars for lower cost of maintenance. I teach a ton about spark plugs for all cars if interested. 😊

I like changing platinum spark plugs at least every 50k miles. I do a lot of highway. If you do a lot of city, maybe 30k? Especially if you live somewhere hot.
@fanfare100
@fanfare100 4 ай бұрын
It depends on the plug. Regular plug VS platinum ones VS iridium laser cut. Top of the line ones (which only cost $10 each) come with an 80,000 mile guarantee, though, I kid you not, I drove with the original ones for 180,000 miles before replacing. They still worked but noticed that I was getting 55mpg on long trips instead of 64mpg. Boohoo. But also it was downshifting sooner than when I'd gotten it going up hills (which usually means a slight loss of power). It was acting like a 1.0 L engine instead of a 1.2 L (power-wise).

why you remove the positive terminal from the car Battery? Disconnecting the negative terminal from the Battery makes the car powerless as well and it is enough!
