2012 Acura TSX Test Drive & Luxury Car Video Review

You can trace the roots of the TSX all the way back to the Acura Integra which is a legend in the sport compact car world. But the TSX has grown up and sports 4-doors and tons of luxury features. But make no mistake; the sports car blood line is still present. The 2012 Acura TSX has a base price of $30,010 with the top of the line sedan version costing $38,650.
The 2012 Acura TSX comes with 2 available engines. The first is a 2.4 liter 4-cylinder engine with VTECH. This engine makes 201 horsepower and 170 lb-ft. of torque and gets 22 MPG in the city and 31 MPG on the highway. This engine is mated to either a 5-speed automatic transmission or a 6-speed manual. There is a lager 3.5 liter V-6 engine available. This motor produces 280 horsepower and 254 lb-ft of torque. Fuel economy for this engine is 19 MPG in the city and 28 MPG on the highway.
The sporty engine is just one of the many attributes that make the 2012 Acura TSX such a great performance sedan. The front suspension is a double-wishbone unit while the rear is a multi-link suspension which improves stability. The steering is very light and precise. There are 11 inch brakes all around that are highly responsive. High-Strength steel is used throughout the underbody which not only keeps weight down, but adds to the rigidiy of the vehicle. This helps with handling but more important aids in helping return a smoother ride.
On the inside there is a ton of leather both on the seats and many of the surfaces. The Acura ELS Surround is a premium sound system that is available as an option. The Technology Package adds an 8-inch touch screen navigation unit. The 2012 Acura TSX comes with six airbags including front, side, and rear curtain airbags to protect all passengers. The TSX has a Vehicle Stability Assist System that uses sensors along with the ABS system to keep the vehicle in control. These systems help the 2012 Acura TSX Sedan make it to the IIHS Top Safety List for 2012.

My dad has owned Acura's ever since he got his first '91 Integra sedan MT and for the past 2-3 years he's gotten 2 Genesis sedans, his current one he loves because its RWD w/ 328 HP. Even though his last Acura was a 2004 TSX, he says that it was underpowered and the last Acura he was satisfied/in love with was his '01 CL 3.2 Type S. I'm really hoping Acura/Honda goes back to its '90-'03 glory days and bring back some sporty entry level coupes like the RSX and CL.

I have the 2012 special edition and it has alot of horse power! This vehicle can almost fly. Lol The only thing is that in low speed sometimes I can feel a little vibration on the gas pedal.

Love Acuras, but this TSX along with other Acuras, should be available with a 7 or 8 speed automatic transmission by now. 5 speeds just doesn't cut it when Kia Rios and Chevy Sonics have 6 speed automatics.

Yes it does have that option, however I've read that some people prefer the v4 vs. v6 because the v4 is less heavier and allows the sedan to be quite zippy and fun to drive standard rather than a v6 with a standard. However, it's only something I read on a forum, and i'm only relaying this information on here as my view and opinion. Cheers, William (:

it should be noted that the version tested is the SE (Special Edition) and that's the reason for the red stitching on the seats/steering wheel, red back lit instrument panel and interior lighting, suede seats, black int cloth material and special chromed pedals. So in all it's not that the car company should go one way or the other, you all tested a model that isn't the "standard" TSX you tested the model addressing the needs of those people looking for a "sportier" TSX (w/o the V6 mind you).

Actually Acura, because of the Acura TL SH-AWD, has a choke hold over similar sedan manufacturers like Lexus, Infinity, Nissan, Toyota, Chevy and most BMW models (5-series inc). It has more power than a Mustang or Challenger V-6 option and it has the most advanced variable torque handling system on the market. Audi, Acura and BMW have the best variable torque handling systems commercially available and due to programming, speed and power distribution differences Acura's SH-AWD comes out on top.

that's what I said as well, and when you can get the 3.5 v6 on the TSX why don't you just get the TL lol but I still like Honda I got a Silver 2011 Honda Accord 4 door EX-L 2.4 for 27k after everything, almost 300 miles brand new from dealer would had gotten the V6 but gas price kind on the rise in Houston Tx after this car I probably go with Lexus if Acura come out with something that catch my eyes

The point is rather obvious, and if you need to ask the question, my answer will probably not help YOU. Nonetheless, the reviewers point is correct, because as of the video production date, Honda made no awd or rear wheel drive cars. (They currently only make CARS with FWD also). Your s2000 was produced between 1999 and 2009, so your point is irrelevant to this discussion, being that your car was manufactured at least 3 years (if not longer) before this review. Hope that clarification helps.

I'm sorry. I'd love to see Acura achieve here, but they just don't seem to do it for me the past several years. Mediocre performance, hideous interiors (it looks like George Jetson climbed inside and threw up all over the place)--I couldn't bring myself to own one. The comparable Buick Regal, which I own, is the more sophisticated of the two (IMO) with it's German character and styling. Even the Volvo S60 has more going for it. This is just a dressed up Honda. No thanks.
