The Crosstour is based on the sedan chassis (Acura TL and Honda Accord). The ZDX is based on the truck chassis (Acura MDX and Honda Ridgeline). That is part of where they went wrong.

@Fussinated Former Acura owner of 8 vehicles from Honda. I don't have the time to comment on every vehicle I don't care for design wise. The sales figures for the ZDX speak volumes.

@Fussinated I think an x6 is a design disaster...with less cubic volume that a 5 series for storage. ZDX and X6 will be discontinued in 5 years or I'll buy a use Aztek! Acutally, come to think of it, the Astek is kinda kissing cousins of the x6 and zdx. Put the horrid front grill of the zdx on the Astek and call it the in new Acura ASX.

This reviewer needs a reality check. The ZDX was poorly conceived, even more poorly designed. It's looks are so polarizing (can we say ugly?) that sales are nearly non existant. As it happened, I recently visited three Acura dealerships for different reasons. None of them had a ZDX on display. One dealership didn't even have any in stock. Acura needs to deep six this SUV and start over.

The sad part is, it wasn't, not even close. It really did have its own platform, design, sheetmetal, technology, drivetrain, etc. It was far more closely related to the Pilot/MDX than the Accord/crosstour (they're too chicken to call it an Accord wagon apparently), but it was fully its own car. But they seemingly tried as hard as they could to make it seem like a rebadged crosstour, even though it definitely wasn't. Imagine Mercedes took a fully loaded S-Class, the $250k AMG one, and dropped an ever so slightly modified Chevy Malibu shell on top (actually I don't think you can do that with modern unibody cars, but the point still holds). That's basically what Acura did with the ZDX. So stupid. And as a result of that dumb and unnecessary decision to make it line up as a top trim model of a Honda it wasn't actually even distantly related to, my age probably exceeds the number of ZDXes they sold.
