What a wonderful review man. So chill to watch. I hate when people complain about no manual function in certain Audi's. They confuse Audi's "A" series, and "S" series with the "RS" series. Most A series cars were made for their elegent interiors, and large exterior lines that draw great attention. Yes, Audi does make performance vehicles but mostly I think of them as a personal oasis when you step into one. Perfect car for that Saturday with the boys!!!

Salvador Parada A8 4.0T is very quick. S8 is in another league of speed, in every way, especially once rolling. S8 engine has stronger internals, larger turbos running at higher boost, additional cooling, lower compression ratio etc... Also the S8 has different, sportier air suspension dampening and MUCH larger and stronger brakes (which it shares with the A8 6.3 W12). Totally different animal. Most people make a mistake of thinking an S8 is a “tuned/chipped” A8 4.0t. Totally wrong. Hope that helps at least a bit in your decision :)

A8L is huge when you get up on it. I really like them, and they look a lot cooler with some big wheels on them. I started looking at an S4, and an A8, but went w/ the A6 3.0TFSI. Really happy with it It's stage 2 from APR as well.

NorthAmerican Auto All in all, pretty true. For the tons of electronics these things have, their components are very durable. Especially the D4. Even the D3 A8s are reliable. Just have to read up on the common problems. As always, as I've always said, if you are buying one of these ultra German sedans for a steal, Learn to DIY!!! Basic maintenance and stuff that breaks can be done at home with the right tools. Forget the stealerships, for a basic tune up its $700-800. Something I could do at home for under 200. There's also something awesome about being able to say you can work on a car like this. People are always impressed, since most are too scared to touch these damn things. If it were my money, I'd search for an A8L 6.3, the one with the ultra rare W12. Prices have fallen ridiculously and is one of THE steals for slightly used high end Audis.

Or if you're mechanically savvy you can buy a Mercedes S600 from 2003-2006 for under $10k and roll around with a twin-turbo V12 and a beautiful full leather interior. That generation of S-Class has aged incredibly well, and they're quite easy to work on.

When you buy an A8 you must budget a lot of $$ for repairs-even a water pump is >$1000. And if you need major engine or transmission work you are looking at $8,000 and up. just be forewarned.

Yeah the problem is the car costs 40k now BUT the maintenance price is still that of a 100k car. Dont forget that or you will shocked to find out that a simple fix can costs thousands of dollers :)
