That's a scary maze under that engine cover. I have discovered a coolant leak with my '13 750li and I'm a little apprehensive because of the complexity of my engine...... But, it's not gonna fix itself so I gotta do it, so thanks for the motivation 🙏

You can do it because I did took pictures before and after of everything i removed ,take a picture of it laying on the ground in the order of which you took it off and just replace it the same way.. It’s actually a easy job, took me 15 min. Just change the y fitting to a 3/8 t brass fitting. It’s not the clamp that fails, it’s the hose that looses structure. Just snip lil off the end and reclamp. No need to remove alternator. Remove intercooler charge pipe. Then the intake component connected to turbo. Ur done...refill fluid. Oh quick tip, instead of prying vac line 4 clamps with small flat head. Use a sturdy zip tie and reach underneath each clamp as u go around

I salute you. I have a 5 series with the same problem but no place to work on it. Did find a shop that does BMW repair a lot which is doing it for a decent price - but I got a lot more problems - catalytic converter, one turbo shot, valve gasket leak - older BMW's get some things going out later in life (130k miles).

Man I do understand your pain, but you gotta love BMW when there running at there best, you’re getting the best of both worlds, speed and luxury, superb performance all in one. I did the video because I wanted to prove that it could be done at home. I did a lot of research and I have lotta friends that work at the dealership how advise me on certain things to do for this repair, BMW wanted about 3 to 4k for that repair job. I’m good with tools so I said what the heck. I’m sorry for the lack in response. I did not realize my video would be helpful amongst the thousands that are out there. Thank you

Had the same issue on my '12 750li. Apparently, it's a common problem on these engines. The connectors on the top failed first on my engine...along with a couple of others. Took it to an indy...$900+. Paid it, but was determined to fix my own the next time. Then my Y connector failed. So I replaced it with a brass T connector. Works perfectly and don't have to worry about it failing anytime soon. As far as the coolant. There's a cleaner called Awesome that works GREAT.

My 750 been doing fine so far. I’ll check out that cleaner also, I currently use a brand called Super Clean, it really works well. Thank you I appreciate it

Did mine's last year before it get as bad as your situation. I intend to keep the car for a long time so I'm replacing all the plastic pieces with better ones. Next one is the turbo inlet intake pipe which becomes brittle over time and screw hole breaks apart which causes the car to make an occasionally whistling noise. I'm just going to change the intake filters with custom ones to remove all the useless plastic crap.

Yep I also planned on keeping the car as well, I did my turbo intake’s when I got into everything and as you said, they were brittle, paid like $130 bucks for them. I then replaced a few other plastic components that also was brittle, I wrapped the new ones with some heat resistant tape, didn’t have to but I did, I’ll be doing the Spark Plugs and Coil Packs and the upper O2 sensors. Surprisingly after getting into in to it really wasn’t that complicated. I even changed out the rear air shocks as well as the air compressor. Which BMW wanted over 4K to replace, just under a grand you new parts and my time. Thank You for the feedback

I changed the turbo housings or rubber garments I got the connectors on eBay so if you don’t change them they will start to leak oil residue which then leaks onto your alternator

I’ve bought the car new and after the warranty went out, I was like Damn 200 just for an oil change 😢, then I had this issue and yes they told me, it was gonna hit me for about $5,500, and I’m like just to replace so lines, so I parked it in my garage and started studying the engine, talking to mechanics I know about the problem, and even they man lean how to do it yourself, I’m good with my hands so I went for it, the can runs so good that I just keep it, we pull it out for road trips and running errands. BMW are great as long as you keep of the maintenance.

I’m pretty sure you also had a turbo oil leak! It’s recommended to remove the lines inspect them and if you are not replacing the lines at least replace the copper o rings and bolts ! If you don’t do this right it will be way more costly to replace them as you will need to remove the manifolds to get under the heat shield to replace the oil supply line completely. Don’t be cheap OEM parts for turbo coolant lines and o rings will be around $300 on eBay and take your time and tighten the bolts per BMW torque specifications.

Your right, I still have the vehicle I did check the turbos and they were dry. That’s something I’m going to tackle soon and hopefully I’ll do a video of it. Thanks for your comments

Thanks Mark. Dealerships don't even want to charge by the hour, but by the job. The BMW dealer said the estimate is $3300. plus tax. It will take 6 to 8 hours of labour.Do the math.

So thanks to this video and many like yours I've save literally THOUSANDS of dollars by just doing most of it on my own. I've changed the O2 sensors (900 - 1200 at dealership )the spark plugs (1200 - 1800) and TPM monitor sensors( 600) and a/c refrigerant change (350) all of which like you said they justify with labor cost. Seriously horse shit, so thanks for making this video as I am having the EXACT same problem.

One you pull the lower coolant hose have a pan to catch the fluids, That’s the way I did it at the time, I’m not so sure if there a drainage plug come to think of it.

Literally the same exact thing is going on with my 7, annoying as shit having to fill the coolant and the fact that the small t connector is directly over my alternator which is fucking caked which is really worrying too. Gonna do this to fix it thanks for the vid!

If you do it yourself or have it done, the plastic t or y connector just go to the parts house and get the $5 🎉brass version of it, also while your in there there’s small black plastic lines that will get brittle and will probably crack there like 1/4th of a inch, you can swap them out with some high performance lines not very expensive and you can purchase by the foot. If the crack on ya, you’ll get a code for emissions, good luck and thank you 🙏🏼

Exactly. They’re made out of some kind of plastic and they do need to be replaced. That’s why BMW has that maintenance set up

It took the about 3 hours, and to be honest it’s probably a solid 2hr job, I took part off/apart and placed them on the floor as I went, because this was the first time for me dealing with my car, but after a few shop, gave me the long story of it being an 8hr job at well over $2300 I was done. It’s really not that hard of a job

Honestly you can order the parts on eBay I recommend calling the dealership and give them your Vin number for the correct hose fitment, had I been more organized I would have included the part numbers, with that said you will only need the rubber hose, BMW will only sell you the total Assembly with the stainless steel lines. eBay or google for parts

After the engine has cooled you can drain if you like, in my situation, I was able to avoid a total drain because I only change out the upper hoses.

Could have just get some silicone hose for 20 bucks. Also dude you forgot to change out the plastic y fitting under the alternator for the coolant vent line. You will have to get back into there again.

Doing mine now, got a brass fitting T piece, the Y fitting was crumbling. Had to take the alternator off to get to it. BMW Australia per hour - approx $280ph....So I went to Super Cheap and $11 later and a few hours of my time and alcohol, saved me about $800.

Yeah I know, had parts on order and will be doing the spark plugs, coils and the O2 sensors, and the cheap plastic t-connector will be replaced with a brass connector. I’ll make a video of the install for that. Thanks for the input

The OEM clamps suck and the stainless steel were all I could get at the time I started the hose swap, I also could have saved about $150 because I could have just ordered the hoses from after market dealers but was pushed for time and ordered from the dealer ouch $300+ , but you learn from mistakes.
