While we were excited about the huge increase in horsepower and torque, we were a little upset that the signature Boss 302 side-exit exhaust had to be removed. Finally, we're in luck! The crew over at Kooks Custom Headers has just released their H-pipe to work in conjunction with their long-tube headers that allows Boss owners to retain the factory side exit exhaust!

Great results. Beautiful feature giving the side exhaust it's rightful place. A set of Borla Stingers or Borla XR-1 Multicore would be my choice with mufflers, but this is a perfect system you installed. Very impressive to me. Congrats, that's big news!

@Ctanz12 We're definitely on the same page... We actually just got in the prototype BBK 90mm Throttle Body, and we're testing this week! They should be on sale in about 2-3 weeks if dyno testing looks good!

Amazing but when I had my 2007 GT with a L&M 62mm throttle body American Muscle said they never heard of that when I asked for a tune, now 2 years later they are using this same brand. Great choice, love L&M.

I'm an X pipe fan. ARH has a Quad X-pipe if you like the exotic rasp sound over the deeper h-pipe sound. It has to be ran with ARH long tubes. I would consider Kooks if they offered a Quad X.

Man I hate to say this but this sounds way too good to be true. Ford definitely has the capability to get mad amounts of horsepower and torque out of that 5.0, but why did they not squeeze out the 60 more hp? I mean I know the long tube headers did help but I've heard from multiple people that the Boss 302 with an intake installed does not gain any more horsepower without a tune, and sometimes loses hp with the intake. What do these tunes do to get more hp out of the car? Why did Ford not do it?

Throttle body and headers will require a tune. And maybe that intake, not too familiar with the specific one...

A tune does not "void" a warranty. It is on the dealer to prove that the part or tune you installed caused the damage that you are seaking to have serviced. If for example you have at tune from a reputable company such as american muscle, and have say.... an ignition coil go bad, that would be well within Ford warranty. See Magnuson Moss warranty act of 1975. You have federal law on your side. burden of proof is on them.

H-Pipe always sounds so much better IMO... Especially on a new 4v 5L V8 due to it's already higher pitched sound from the factory. I also like that H-Pipes generally add more torque than X-Pipes do, all while still adding HP as well.

@HackoDis I have never come across a video that did represent sound properly. On my camera it is hard to tell stock vs Roush AB. But there definitely is a difference. A proper mic is probably gonna cost a lot, and youtube downgrades the audio anyways :(

Bobby Lindsey That's a good question and having ridden in this car the drone wasn't that bad at all but it's a little more on the higher pitched metallic side like something you would experience with an X pipe - Even though it's an H configuration the sound itself is still very strong/thick and sounds absolutely awesome at 8,000 rpm! - Alex

Was lucky to get a factory Boss 302 h-pipe on my GT. Have deleted resonators and flowmaster hushpower axlebacks. If I were to go with longtubes what kind of difference would it make to the sound?

Because there lazy, I think the Boss should have come with longtubes, o/r X, tune of your choice and cold air intake that puts it up to about 500hp. I mean com'on its a track car! should have come like that stock. Like your saying...just squeeze a little bit more out.

This is wheel hp...its 444 at crank they do 380-390 stock to the wheels which is about right

The boss motor is called the roadrunner. Alot of people don't know that. The cams and internals are different from the coyote. Ford dubbed it the roadrunner when they designed it
