That car is identical to mine with the exception of the engine type. My car has the 1.8L engine(non-turbo) No timing chain on mine. Has a timing belt. Recently came due for replacement. Thank you for sharing your knowledge/experience with us.

My cams are locked with tool and my crank is locked with pin on number 1 but before I can put the chain on my Variable Valve sprockets was taken off how do you line them back up with the timing chain.

@Ralf's Automotive Diagnostics & Repair sounds like you can do it how you want. I did it the right way. That's why it's still going strong, but thanks for your concern. I've done several head gaskets and NEVER put anything on them

@@ralfsautomotive Only if you're replacing the top part of the gasket, if you're replacing the whole gasket then you don't need any sealers

I'm not sure what you are meaning sorry. Are you trying to put the cam gear on the cam or line up the cams to do the timing?

Does it matter how you face the camshaft trigger phaser ring gear...

Yes. The timing tool will only fit on them if they are right. So there is two groves on the other end of the cams that one tool locks into. Then there is another tool that goes on the phasers. I hope this helped

@@dmwautomotive2291 sure did. I didnt use the tool for that part and is throwing a p0016 and p0017 code.. and i hear for what it seems a lifter not getting oil. Do you think this might be why

@@epena23 did you change your oil? Maybe something is clogged not allowing oil to be pumped to it. That's hard to tell with out actually seeing the car in person

is that really all you had to do to get the cams and crank in time. i just got my tools like in the video. the book makes it sound much harder

With the tools it is very easy. I don't remember having any trouble with the timing at all. Just fallow along what I did and you will be fine. Hope this video helps you

@@dmwautomotive2291 did you have any play in the timing chain while everything was at tdc..I have maybe 1/8 inch. I have not rotated the engine two full turns yet. I am asking because I think there has to be oil in the system to make tensioner work properly..any comments or helping would appreciate..thanks

@@randybolon688 I don't remember that much sorry. If I remember correctly you are right about the tensioner needing oil to properly tension the chain
