I was amazed to see a beautiful Fueller with "Ash Marshall" on the body. Ash was a pioneering drag racer from the mid 60's, when the sport was just beginning in Australia. Glad to see he still has a car with his name on it. Cheers from Australia.

Thanks for doing this. Us old guys heed a reminder once in a while of how much fun it was in the 50's and 60's.

That was freaking awesome. The intro & outro were just fabulous. I am at a lost for words, for 22 minutes it seems that I forgot about all my current problems and was taken back to a golden age of drag racing. Thanks, I needed that.

I lived at SoCal drag strips from '63 until I was drafted in '69. My favorite car and driver was the Yeakel Plymouth Special AA/FD which was campaigned out of Downey, California. Lou Baney ran the show, Tom "Mongoose" McEwen was in the seat and John Garrison turned the wrench. Most don't know it but The Goose was the driver who went to Simpson in '64 and asked him if he could sew filters into his protective mask and from that request you have the masks being worn here at the Cacklefest.

Absolutely SUPERB..............oh the memories this brings back! I was extremely lucky to have been born early enough to have actually been at the tracks during these times! They were the best of times. Beautiful cars and unique crews brought about unforgettable summer nights I'll fondly remember forever! Thanks for the memories!

Yeah - so was I and those days were simpler but truly amazing to attend. When I was a young teen - the boys next door were hot rod car crazy. There were always several young men over there tinkering and building 1950s era street rods and customs in the back yard. Many old 1920s and 1930s Ford coupes and some 2 door sedans were ripped apart and a Mercury or Lincoln V8s put into them. My father was a gear head too - and he was 1953 -1963 Studebaker coupe man, and he always customized our family cars. It was a time in history that will never be repeated. I sorta miss it. Boys back then were real males and not the simps like we have today.

As much as the content of this video is fantastic, the opening and closing is absolutely perfect. I could watch and listen to that music with it over and over and over again. So reflective of the era itself. Thanks to all who made this possible and thanks to all who took part and RIP to all those no longer with us. We will always miss you but smile when we think of you.

It's absolutely amazing some of the memories from these old and old-styled diggers/altereds... I've been around drag strips since the mid-60s and even recognized a few cars that are originals... Notes : Most of the original cars seen here are running methanol. Don't blame them a bit ! A majority of them were running VP 50/50 nitro/methanol mix. A few were running 75/25 nitro/methanol mix. Some of these cars have been upgraded with newer parts that look different from 60s/70s...(different injector hats, newer/wider tires, updated heads, etc...) The handful of F/A (Altereds) really caught my eye, because the fiberglass bodies were not widely in use way back when. I am currently building a 60s-styled altered to run in Exhibition class at local strip, using a 392 cast iron Hemi with a GMC 6-71 bower with Crower "stack" injectors in a stretched VW body. I plan on using VP 50/50 fuel...

9:30 Seeing the Beebe Mulligan car breaks my heart. I became good friends with Dave Beebe in the 1990's in Porterville, California. He and his wife Janet owned a small used car lot and U-Haul outlet, I bought a couple of cars from him between 1993 and 2001. Dave was a great guy, he loved to sit and talk for hours about racing.

Where do I start? Beautifully done, love the choice of opening and closing music!!! I grew up in Long Beach Ca, during the heyday of Top Fuel (1963-1970) and had the chance to see most of the original versions of these cars. What a kick to see their restored editions, and hear their beautiful nitro infused music. One question, what did you use to film this, and how did you get the truest sound recording of fuel cars I've ever heard...the BEST I've ever heard! Thanks for your efforts and your devotion to the sport.

Kids, THAT is what drag racing was about in the Golden Age! No clouds of vapor, but flames instead! Crisp sounding. Not much more to them than an engine, rear axle and big rear tires. Built, not with huge sponsor money, but with a shoestring budget, grit, and a burning desire to go fast. Those were the days!

Top Fuel Rules!! This is cool as can be using vintage pushers and the works with some old slingshots that are obviously only a foot stomp away from "running". As they say, Gasoline is for Washing Parts, Alcohol's for Drinking and Nitro's for Hauling Ass but I've often wondered if it required more balls than skill to stand on one of these for much more than a couple seconds or a couple hundred feet (whichever comes first)!?

Ah! Here @ 8:22 you have the Bishop & Buehl fuel altered (AA/FA) running the big block Chevy. Back in '68 the altereds were really big in SoCal where I lived. My favorite Chevy powered AA/FA was Mondello-Matsubara with Sush Matsubara in the seat. I remember a fantastic race at Irwindale Raceway between the M&M car and Wild Willy Borsch who partnered with Al Marcellus to own & drive the Winged Express. Sush got a monster hole shot but Willy caught the Chevy in the lights for the win.

I was 18 in 1962 and hung out at Martin , MI drag strip until I got drafted in 1965. Things were loose then and I kind of knew the owner so I would get right next to Garlits, Karamasines, Tommy Ivo and Connie Kallita. Hearing them and smelling the methanol with eyes watering was just awesome. I think they were only doing like 8-9 second passages but it was cool. I'm racing Formula Ford now at 76. When is the next Cacklefest? Right now it is September, 2020.
