I feel Spealler. I've had those cramps in the obstacle course of 24 KM I did earlier this summer. The swim was in the middle of the course, I got out, started running few meters and my legs cramped up so hard I had to sit down and stretch. Hurts like hell too, I was so for few days after the event from those cramps.

This makes me think crossfit doesnt put enough emphasis on long distance cardiovascular endurance. Someone explain to me how I am wrong
@somesinger15759 жыл бұрын
I'm quite surprised not a single one was able to keep a consistent run, what with the fact some have half marathon/triathlon backgrounds. It really is hard to keep the runner's ability with the muscle that is needed for the games.

They surely would've been crushed by lots of specialists during this kind of event, but the simple fact that they're able to do it all day after day in so many disciplines is really inspirational.

Up and Over "Iron Mike", across the "Alpha Shelf", and down the "Trail of Tears". I've done that run before. After a swim and bike, FORGET IT!!! That's why I love Crossfit.

"You can't really draw a parallel to triathlon because it's uneven terrain and a beach swim." 1) Off-road tri is a thing. 2) A lot of races have a beach swim. No, this isn't the same as triathlon, but not for the reasons stated.

Thanks for putting them back in the ocean. Swimming should be in more wods.
@joecuddington32056 жыл бұрын
Should have made them do the swim in full cammies with a 80 pound water proofed pack and made them swim a mile and a half out and back, we did that every Friday from Del-Mar harbor. If you were first you didn't have to do the post fin punishment. Good job to everyone who ran this even if it a few years late.

Brian McGranahan how do they not have endurance? These guys aren't training to run an iron man every weekend, but they definitely have incredibly high endurance, especially compared to the average American.

aarongray635 lol are you 200 pounds of mostly muscle? Do you know how hard it is to do anything with that kind of weight. On top of that theyre more explosive strength, not hour long runs, swims and bikes
@barath454512 жыл бұрын
Great first event, but the fins ruined it, they should have just let them swim it in shoes(feet protection from the rocks in/out).
@syfer232311 жыл бұрын
No, I think you're mistaken. I was about 200m ahead of everyone on the tugboat swim ;). Crossfit people are very fit but their swimming was funny to watch. Muscles don't = good at swimming. Don't take things so personal :)

you are not wrong. but that's also not the point of crossfit. If you want long distance cardio endurance, do a triathlon. However....I dare you to go try this without having amazing cardiovascular endurance.

How can they call themselves the fittest on earth when no one in this competition can run any sort of distance. They need to change the slogan ASAP.
@Arrynek019 жыл бұрын
The race starts with a 700-meter ocean swim with fins, followed by an 8-kilometer bike ride across undulating terrain and soft sand, and finishes with a 11.3-kilometer run across steep hills and more than 427 meters of elevation gain. In 1:57:33 for the first place. That is after they participated in several other courses over the previous few days and will continue just an hour after finishing this.
@jziskind9 жыл бұрын
Arrynek01 You're right, except this was the first event of the 2012 Games.
@Postermaestro9 жыл бұрын
blackfox1320 Guess it depends on how you define "fit". But I do agree, their endurance is not really what you would expect from the "fittest" on earth. And on top of that, Rich Froning and most of the top finishing athletes every year never do well on the endurance part of the games.
@Postermaestro9 жыл бұрын
Arrynek01 700 meters is basically a warm up, especially with fins. I really think the definition "fittest" on Earth should focus a little bit more on endurance.
@ClockCutter9 жыл бұрын
blackfox1320 Why on earth would you, and others, think fitness equals the ability to run a 10k or a marathon faster and more efficiently than others? Runners can't do shit except run. Cyclists can't do shit except ride.
@EeeScape12 жыл бұрын

Crossfit is heavily skewed towards strength and power. Not saying it's bad, just saying that they are really poor on the endurance part.

@soelinay8859 жыл бұрын
You sound tough
@eurovisionfan_18 жыл бұрын
You so-called runners have to understand that not all athletes are able to run like you probably because they are into different sports. If you judge a runner by his ability to do gymnastics or lift weights then it would seem like the funniest comedy show for the rest. Runners are very skinny when other kinds of athletes are extremely muscular hence, physically, they can't have the same stamina. So, you can keep your arrogance for yourself.
