I hear your point, and cross fit doesn't nail specific muscles like gym work does or bring's your cardiovascular system to new levels like running does. But I would say that cross training makes a person the best definition of "physically fit" than any other sport does- all rounders

But your right these are all athletes that might not have been TALL enough or BIG enough. Specialists dont get far in CrossFit instead its about enduring in as many ways as possible. Actually, no, I cannot. I have been CrossFitting only for 4/5 months, and what is there not to love? That you feel better than you ever have? That you can do stuff that makes your friends' eyes pop out? That you can bang out a good looking physique? That you can run more, lift more, and do more than you ever thought possible? I think the nay-sayers are either not-doers or cherrypick some bad anecdotes, e.g., "I know a guy who got hurt doing back squats." Forget the hating, keep on loving.

I did not start exercising regularly until Jan. 2009 at 39 years old. The big 4-0 was around the corner, and I finally had the thought, "If not now, when? It certainly is not going to get any easier from here on." So I signed on to the local Y, worked off 25 lbs. over a year, then kept at eating well (no junk, no soda, very few sweets). This progressed into a desire to take things up a notch, and it turns out CF was two notches. So much the better. Thus, my loving comments re CF above.

Soccer players have great cardiovascular endurance but terrible in stregnth Same for NBA players Olympians? They excel in one area that's it. ex. Powerlifters = terrible endurance. Swimmers = Poor in strength. Sprinters = Poor in strength. Crossfit is about cardiovascular AND strength endurance. Two key elements of being "fit". You're not fit if you can run 26 miles but cant deadlift or squat 100 pounds. You're not fit if you can bench 500+ or dead lift 600+ but can't run a mile.

That a collegiate wrestler would have no problem doing this workout, I'm sure they would fair pretty well but they are not going to beat these guys at it. I am not putting down wrestlers or weightlifting or anything else, but it is unfair for you to dismiss crossfit. I'm glad you're in shape, better than some fat lazy person talking trash behind their screen. Yes anyone can do crossfit that's the idea as it was made to scale to everyone.

How was anything i stated irrational or non factual? This is the only Crossfit video i commented on. I actually do have an idea of "how hard this is" being i started training in one of the top powerlifting gyms in the country, and then actually trained at a cross fit affiliate box, i train in a similar fashion and am actually in great condition.my opinion is that from what i've noticed the WOD lacks efficient programming in order for it to be truly effective in a progressive manner.
@Lebowskiification11 жыл бұрын
Nothing in this video is unique to crossfit so I wouldn't be surprised if some non-crossfitter could do it. The sprints and sleds would be easy cause I had to do them for 4 to 5 timed sets for football back to back. We had ropes but we never did them on the same day as the sprints and sleds. Non the less, I could do this workout without training specifically for crossfit because this particular event isn't special. It's endurance and strength; something running backs and rugby players have.
@JDic2411 жыл бұрын
My point is a Top tier Collegiate wrestler would have no problem competing because of their insane strength and conditioning,"Crossfitters" don't really train anything. The WOD has no programming what so ever, so "Training Crossift" doesn't mean anything.
@Ipaddlesaac11 жыл бұрын
I don't think these guys are the fittest men on earth. The guy who wins can only run a 20 minute 5k. That's pretty slow, I'm 13 and I can run a 5k that fast. I'm a kayaker and I think some of the Olympic level paddlers could beat these guys. I think this should have more cardiovascular stuff as well as the strength and only then can they truly be called the fittest men on earth
@nicksantoianni507711 жыл бұрын
@eyoung75ey you clearly have no idea what your talking about, crossfit touches all aspects of physical conditioning, it's not just pushing heavy weights like a dumbass it's dynamic, muscular strength and endurance training. I hope I can compete in that tournament one day, because to win such an event does indeed classify you as the fittest man walking.

This statement is ignorant. Crossfit is a mixture of almost all types of exercise. If you are an athlete of any kind, you can do at least some Crossfit routine. It's like saying a Marine or Ranger or any military person from any country couldn't do this because he or she isn't a crossfitter. Do some homework. There is no such thing as a "crossfitter". They are all athletes or health enthusiast that train in more than just Crossfit.
@rstingle8811 жыл бұрын
@ipaddlesaac, with being so young you should do more research on crossfit and the crossfit games, its not about running a 5k in 20 minutes its about the five rounds of snatches and burpees that they do afterward, crossfit embodies the unkown, so in your case, "paddlers" train for paddling, where as crossfit athletes train for the unknown, because life is unpredictable, so please do more research before trolling. Thank you and have a great day
@fredisdeadization11 жыл бұрын
please google , clean and jerk and snatch injury. it is all to common for newbies . My other beef with crossfit , is i find that alot of "crossfitter" sacrifice form for speed . This is a one way ticket to snap city. Other than that i think it is great. i just believe in training safe .

Cross fit is like extreme PE class. I had PE when I was in Junior high and high school, I don't know about now with all the cutbacks to programs, we also had presidential fitness awards that I don't see anymore. Why would the Obamas give us food NAZIs at school and then not emphasize physical education programs too? Sorry to get political but in our area its like we get government lecturing us about health and importance of education and then get cuts in those areas with more government control.
@fredisdeadization11 жыл бұрын
On another note. powerlifter/bodybuilders/sprinters/endurance athletes etc. find that crossfitter somehow believe that they came up with something new or special. What they are doing is a type of decathlon or ( Pentathlon) nothing new about it . In which multiple levels of fitness are tested. it is great to watch and i am impressed by some of there fitness levels.

Think about generally less respected sports(maybe CrossFit?) like diving, gymnastics, Ultimate Frisbee, and Lacrosse. People laugh at these sports without knowing (or even taking the time to consider) the difficulty and complexity of the sport at higher levels. The fact is that all these sports are insanely difficult and competitive. Despite their apparent ignorance, unless we look at all of those aforementioned sports with respect, we are guilty of the same prejudice.

I think CrossFit is a great way to exercise. I think task based exercise is a lot more effective than simply powerlifting or set/rep based workouts. However, I don't buy they are the fittest on Earth. I would have more respect for them if they had more humility. That being said, if there is scientific evidence that a CrossFit athlete is more fit than an olympian or a professional athlete, please show me a link. Until then, the jury is out and they are just marketing themselves as the most fit.

Respectfully, is this any different than claiming a team that wins the "world" series is the "world" champ? It is not as if the team was in competition with all baseball teams in the world. It is the champion among MLB teams, all of which are American except for two Canadian teams. By contrast, CF games start with a true worldwide open. If you can beat ALL possible competitors at the difficult CF exercises, the title "fittest man/woman on earth" is a fair description of your achievement.
