Like others have already said, thank you for this upload. I could not get that connector undone without the potential of breaking it! And I had the same problem except mine did throw a fault code: P0128 and it is a 2010 ram 1500 5.7. My temperature just kept steadily not rising at all. Everyday it would be lower and lower until one day it wouldn’t move at all. Watched this video got it changed out in about 5 mins and now she’s working again and the code went away after driving it! Thanks again man!!

Well I ended up breaking the connector lol, so now gotta deal with that. Unfortunately I was doing this on a 2012 caravan 3.6l so the sensor is in front close to radiator so like no space at all.

I needed a sensor so I changed it just like you did and it was doing the same thing that yours did and ended up being my thermostat. Thanks for showin me how to change the sensor tho..very helpful

So the engine coolant temp sensor is separate from the sending unit correct? The one that you have shown to replace is the temp sensor and the sending unit that you talk about at the end of your video is separate sensor correct? If so, where is the sending unit located? I'm having a hard time locating it since with research, it will direct me to the engine coolant sensor with the red clip like you shown. But no other sensor pops up.. hmm.. if you can give me any tips of advice on where to look, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

Hello guys. Can you help me. After replacing the water pump and the thermostat for a leakage. Everything was fine with the temperature. But 3 days later the temperature doesn't go up no more than 100f° and sometimes drops to 54f° I used a thermometer to read temperature where the sensor is located and it reads 190f°. I checked for ground is good, volts 4.6v , and I use 3 new sensors.

My 2010 ram was overheating with no code i changed everything but the e fan, and no coolant loss so head gaskets are good i guess maybe the e fan is running like it should

Yeah the threads were too tight and didn't go in far but it worked out great.

It's looks to be a tapered thread so you only tighten it until it feels tight.

@@hotrodgs I ask because I have a 2012 5.7 1500 4wd and my truck has crank but no start. I did replace the water pump but did not replace the sensor or the thermostat. I decided to use these 2 because I never had any overheat issues or an engine light. For the past 3 weeks i have done/replaced a lot. Today I have taken down the fuel tank and will be installing a new fuel pump and hopefully this is my issue.. and tonight I have stumbled on the "coolant temp sensor" video causing the vehicle not to start so if the fuel pump doesn't fix my start problem, I guess the sensor will be the next to get.. I appreciate you responding. Are you getting any misfire codes ?

I have a slight leak coming from temp sensor. But, a camshaft code is popping up. Changed cam and crank sensors. No problems for a few months then came back up. The temp sensor is leaking on to camshaft. Could this all be related?

You should not have oil coming out from where the coolant temperature sensor was. When the engine is cold, open the radiator cap and see if you have oil in your coolant. If you do, then bring it to a trusted mechanic.

Yes, I honestly thought they gave me the wrong one. It will go on a few threads but make sure it's straight and use a socket wrench to push down and tighten at the same time.

They kept giving me the wrong one because the original was all plastic sensor and they kept bringing out the one with brass on the thread side which was better of course but was to wide

The one I ordered is the same brass and really seems to be wrong diameter. Scared I’m going to damage the threads forcing it. Where did you find a good replacement?

I’m having my temperature gage with my charger RT, go all the way up when I’m sitting still at an idle after a few minutes. But then when I’m moving it goes back to normal. Think it may my coolant temperature sensor?

You may be low on coolant. When your engine is cool take your radiator cap off and check to see that it's up at the top. It can also be a bad thermostat.

Have a 2012 ram 5.7L Hemi. I had the water pump radiator and thermostat changed. Because of a hairline crack on the radiator. A few months later and I noticed it gets hot when in the drive-through. Heater works well by the way. You think it could be the sensor??

When your engine is cold, take the radiator cap off and make sure the coolant level is at the top of the radiator. Sometimes if your coolant is low, your water pump will suck air causing the engine to over heat.

@@jingyitay6179 yes I did. There was a metal bracket around the drivers side of the motor that it was under. It had one screw holding the bracket bolted on the motor. I unscrewed bolt and bracket moved out of the way and I went right to sensor to remove. Easy installation and removal

When your engine is cold, take your radiator cap off and make sure your coolant level is all the way up to the top. You might be low on coolant causing the water pump to suck air and causing the engine to get hot.

Not sure if anyone knows, but I replaced my water pump and used the original temp sensor and bleeder screw. I used ptfe tape and now there seems to be leaking from those areas. Can someone link to the correct teflon sealant/tape I should use? I want to remove the bleeder and temp sensor and fix this. Thanks!
