2012 F150 Battery Drain Parasitic Testing Pt. 2 The Fix

I had tested every fuse for a voltage drop in both the BCM and Battery Junction Box with no joy. Found a case on Identifix suggesting a short to voltage on the circuit feeding fuse 34 in the BCM was keeping the BCM and other controllers awake.

We have a huge problem with green crusties so the obvious solution would be to eliminate the copper corrosion problem. We need a special alloy that does not react with the water salt mix used on roads or provides an oxide protective layer similar to stainless steel.

Even if the terminals were gold plated they would not oxidize but salt water in the connector would still short the terminals.

@@PhillipBailey Incidentally I no longer will use the pure copper trailer connectors. The tin coated terminals are a huge improvement with quite a reduction in copper related corrosion problems.

I'm using a subscription service from Identifix but they don't usually cater to the DIY techs try Alldatadiy.com they do and have the same or similar information

@@odishoodisho4904 one of the reasons I like Identifix is they usually have 3 versions of electrical schematics. They have OEM usually with functional hyperlinks. I was likely using that here. Then the also have color diagrams which are Mitchell which if you are familiar with them are redrawn in a standard format often condensed. This sometimes helps with the OEM diagrams are ladder or just hard to follow. Then the have Motor diagrams which is Alldata and are OE but no functional hyperlinks.

3v on an unpowered 12v circuit definitely screams "high resistance short to power". What a PIA problem to find. Thank you William Hutchison.
