Good video. I did this yesterday following your instructions. A few comments: 1) my car had 2 extra screws on the left side of the door panel. (Torex 20 I think) maybe cause it's 5 door zetec. You need to remove these and the plugs that hold them in. 2) be careful when removing to bolt for the mirror.. it's very easy to drop inside the door as I did... Had to get another bolt as it's not easy to retrieve. 3) when you take the door panel off I found it easier to start from the right side. 4) put your window down while threading the new mirror cable, this will ensure you don't go in the wrong hole. If it goes through the wrong whole your window won't go down and you risk damaging the cable trying. 4) The most difficult part of this is getting the wire and plug for the new mirror through the hole on the door panel. It was only just big enough for the plug so you can't put your fingers in. I used a plastic tool with a bend in it to fish it out, took about 15 mins of attempting and many drops before I got it though.

Mine is a 2012 4 door sedan RHD and yes it has two extra torx screws in the lower left door card that the video didn't mention .. This link is a better detailed video. kzbin.info/www/bejne/rYisgJqLatGrqJIsi=jZU4vbXodloJLg3v

Handy hint for when you come to unscrew or refit the mirror unit torx bolt... to avoid the risk of it dropping inside the door panel, put a couple of small dabs of blue-tak on either side of the bolt head before presenting the socket. When you press the socket onto the bolt the blue-tak will help keep it snug inside the socket and prevent it from dropping somewhere you'll regret.

Thanks for this video, I was able to change my mirror in about 30 minutes, some door cards have two extra screws at the bottom edge (mine didn't) I also put a small piece of blu tack inside my 13mm socket and the nut stuck in there nice and secure. I also tied strong cord to the old wire to help guide the new wire.

What you dont show is how much of a sod putting the wire plug back on through the 2 holes in the door i used a piece of wire with a screw tied on one end the other on to the plug it and a pocket magnet, with a bit of paitence you can get the plug and gromet through it , good luck ps the 2 door is easier than the 4 door as the 4 door has 2 screws on the side of the door card, s be aware lol

I'm so stupid when it comes to all this stuff so I appreciated this video but I had the same problem and struggled to get the wire back through the hole. Took a while but I got there in the end. Put my window down and the wires were in the way of the glass so the window wouldn't go down properly. This led to the blue wire being pulled out and breaking the wire covering. I still cannot for the life of me get the wires out of the way of the glass when the window is down so I've had to leave it disconnected for now. Also, make sure the door handle is connected as mine wasn't the first time I put everything back together.

Great video thanks. If you're a clumsy oaf like me you'll have dropped the bolt from the back of the mirror into the door frame. To retrieve it I removed the speaker. This was also helpful when feeding the wire through .

How do you fix a mirror to make it fold in again??
@TEAMR4ULTV4 жыл бұрын
I really don't know what you mean. If you fit the right mirror it should fold in like normal
@kyledavies13114 жыл бұрын
@@TEAMR4ULTV I've got a normal mirror but when I obviously flick the switch for it to fold the drivers mirror wont. But I can adjust the drivers mirror. So it will do everything apart from folding!
@TEAMR4ULTV4 жыл бұрын
@@kyledavies1311 the one you have bought might be an aftermarket one and might not have the folding mirror function on it. Did you buy from eBay or online. Also make sure the wire connector is the same. Might be same connector but you might have less wires on it .

I paid about £50 from eBay, though you can get them cheaper without power folding. Make sure you get one with an indicator light if you have one on the other side. Some seem to be available without.
