I'm doing a project like this with a 2010 Fusion (front end hit). I did not have to do the wiring harness though. I would not have taken the path you did on cutting and splicing the wires. I would have taken the original wires and figured out where they go. But I understand the difficulty of finding front end parts for this car--always missing at junk yards (especially LKQ). I did finally get the parts after about a month of getting one piece at a time. When I got the key done, I found out Autozone sells a key and a programmer for $90 that solves this problem. No locksmith needed. It worked great and it was nice to hear the car run after several seeks of working on it. The worst part was the interior smell. Had to replace carpet and seats to get rid of it.
