2012 mustang v6 cheap header install

Thanks! Someone who finally addressed this issue! I'm about to undertake this task too and found that the OEM studs will contact the P/S header while the D/S should be fine. So then I should go ahead and chop some of the lower rear stud's length then, eh? I can double-back some nuts in order to install the stud tightly to spec Thanks again, kind sir!

If the factory gaskets are good, reuse them. Be careful and you won’t mess it up at all.

Not sure, but I’ve had them on my car for over a year now and I am very pleased.

Preacher Dan That’s all I need to know. Branded headers cost an extra 200 but are the same exact shape lol. I’m thinking unbranded is the way to go for a part like this. Thank you!

Just ordered mine and waiting on them to come in. I saw another video where someone mentioned they bought new studs at Home Depot and I think I’m going to grab those too to be safe. Any other tips? I might take it to a shop. It hurts to imagine not doing it myself but damn I don’t want to risk anything

I have another video that covers some of the install points. There is a stud coming out of the head that is a peal to get to and I wished that I had cut mine off shorter so I could access it with a gear wrench.

How did you get the cats to fit with the shorty headers? The bolts on mine are not fully aligned

I had a problem like that with mine too. What I did was took the rest of the exhaust loose from the crossover pipe, started one side on the studs and sprung the other side on. I thing removing the crossover pipe completely and using a ratchet strap to put a bit of flex on the pipe might be a better option.

@@PreacherDan I’m a bit confused on what you did. However I am considering using a vise to force the bolts to become straight. I intend to use a digital caliper to measure the original manifolds studs and try to attempt to realign the eBay headers flange and bolts like the stock manifold.

What size studs did you use for the headers to connect to the mid pipe? .y buddy just bought some cheap headers and the studs just seem too short. Would the stock header flange studs work?

Maybe. I didn’t even check the old ones. I took one of the headers to ace hardware and sized one up the right studs there.

Never used it. It might do ok but the factory gasket is much better for this application. I reused my old gasket and came away very pleased with the results. They’ve been on over a year with no leaks. I’m happy.

Absolutely no issues. Reused the factory gaskets and everything has been problem free.

Man, I would have had sent that order back. If they can't even get the right hardware in the box, makes you feel good about the quality of the headers.

The quality of the headers are quite nice, especially considering that I’ve had them on the care for a year and they’ve been fantastic. I only paid a touch over $75.

No but probably. I figure they’re probably all from the same factory in China, just sold under different names.

what size are those bolts ?

For the collector or in the head.

I got them at Ace hardware. I packed one of the headers into the store and matched it up like that. If I’m not mistaken I think it was a 5/16 diameter if not a 3/8.

@@PreacherDan I have a set of bbk headers I want to put on gathering tools ...is there room enough to use an impact on the mid pipe nuts? I got like 2 foot extensions lol

@@ej9236 you will either need swivel extensions or a swivel on the end of your extensions, but it can be done.

@@PreacherDan I have the 15 mm deep socket , couple long extensions, breaker bar and the swivel..I got some pb blaster also. Did you have a hard getting the 4 nuts off ? That top passenger looks like the toughest to get..

At the time I had flowmaster axle backs but they were too quiet for my liking so I fabbed up some muffler deletes with some shiny tips. Sounds beautiful now.
