In my opinion, the best show the Marching Cats ever performed.

Sounds so weird hearing some of the dubstep producers that I love being announced before a field show

I love WCU and the show was entertaining but they do realize that they're a marching band right? Play the instruments instead of using so much digital audio
@bandmanusetabe6 жыл бұрын
But that's what makes them different from the rest. And they do their own digital audio. It isn't recorded.
@bandmanusetabe5 жыл бұрын
@Micah Lall-Trail Well, you really have to have excellent digital effects to pull it off. No, you don't really have to have it to be great, but not everyone does the same thing. Diversity is the spice of things.

@Micah Lall-Trail That's very true. But having been a band director for many years, my motto on style, content, etc. has always been: "It's not always what you do, but how well you do what you're doing."
@bandmanusetabe5 жыл бұрын
@Micah Lall-Trail Yes, I fully understand what you're saying. To use or not to use electronics is a matter of preference by the directors, arrangers, show designers, etc. And yes, there are plenty of high school bands that do not use amplification. You just have to look around. Some bands use it out of necessity (sometimes electronics can be used to compensate for lack of instrumentation) and some use it for show augmentation. Personally, I never used amplification or electronics in any of my bands, but I certainly wasn't opposed to it. I just never felt the need for it in my particular situation. I suppose I was just "Old School" because I didn't even use sideline pit percussion until the last few years before my retirement. My mallet percussion, etc.carried their equipment on the field the same way drum corps did it back in the day. Anyway, you use (or don't use) whatever is best for your situation.
