Getting a P0016 after replacing my head gasket. Cam Corellation code. Could this mean I didn’t set the timing right? Does it need to be on a particular Stroke to set the timing?

As long as it's at top dead center and the cams are set properly the only concern would be being a link or 2 off. Now if it has a adjustable timing gear problem check service information to see if it has to preloaded or something along the sort

First off, ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED BY ANYONE. Followed your steps exactly, and am getting a p0012 code. No symptoms of bad timing, and I can't tell if I have reduced power. I replaced the vvt solenoid, and timing sensor, no luck. I'm wondering, if the chain was 1 tooth off hypothetically, wouldn't I get a misfire? If I don't get a misfire or rough idling, is it safe to assume my chain isn't a tooth off? The only thing I can think of, is that I set my timing correctly, but when I installed the tensioner, maybe it didn't expand right away, and when I went to start the car for the first time, maybe it skipped a tooth? I don't have any more ideas, and don't mind redoing the whole thing if I knew I had to. What I don't want to do, is redo everything, and get the same result because I didn't locate the problem.

In that particular video I reused the phasers and chain due to it was a head gasket problem now if you had timing codes before hand I would recommend the phaser due to the lock out in the phaser could be damaged causing false positives on proper timing

Thank you for the reply. I will tear everything down again, and replace the phaser. I really hope that fixes my problem.

And please note after market phasers have bit me in the rear if I had a recommendation use a Toyota phaser and replace the bolt 🔩 it may cost a little more but worth it a long with the vvt actuator should be located in the valve cover
