Are the 2013-2017 models any safer? Since they updated the basic design in 2013.

The only change for 2013 was a facelift and some interior pieces. The structure is the same.

@@cork8843 I've got a 2012 and I'm going to keep it. Safer than my 2002 Suburban and gets twice the fuel milage. Still sort of quick and fun to drive too. I also only paid 5k for mine.

The A-Pillar held up decently well, obviously not the safest car as the door was ripped of but it did much better than the Audi A4 from the same year so idk why so many people are complaining.

Thats shocking, as its a pretty good sized car. I got one after my hyundai accent got hit head on by a new F-150 , and it bent the front end to the left. I barely felt anything on impact and was unhurt. I got this, a bigger car to be safer.... And now i see this?

Note this was 2012 when IIHS first introduced the small overlap crash test and CC did relatively well compared to many other cars at the time.

This was because this was a new kind of crash test and car manufacturers did not have enough time to fix the cars structure.

@@swi_z8822 Also notice that when the driver’s airbag came up, it moved away from the driver, causing it to hit its head against the steering wheel.

sir this vw cc was one of the first cars tested on this test so vw didnt know it was coming and didnt prepare a good structure unlike volvo who already does small overlap tests in their own safety facility

@@HondaZRV Okay? But they needed to already have safe cars that should already pass this test? Take the 2013 Honda Civic for example. It’s a cheap, small car but yet it was one of, if not the best performer in the small overlap test when it released. If a Civic can do it, anything can.

@@barbz_zayne Yes you are right because honda designed for the test and that vw cc is on a older chassis before the test was made just like the CX9 Accent Rio and sonata as the CC 2012 is the exact same as the 2008 but facelifted

@@HondaZRV That is not the point. The point is, no matter how bad a crash is, a car needs to be prepared for it, and it needs to be safe. Those unforeseen events can pop up at anytime, and can cause many injuries which is not good. So, that’s why any car, not matter what year, needs to be prepared for any type of collision.
