This was a HUGE help while we were driving to Walt Disney World last month. We were in South GA when it happened. I asked my wife to drive while I researched the issue. We stopped in Valdosta bought a cheap pair of needle nose pliers at Publix. Repaired it in the parking lot. By the time we got back to I-75 it was ice cold again! Thanks for saving our trip!

Every time I drove my wife's 2012 Focus I hated it because of the intermittent AC. My friend who used to be a Ford tech said it could be the evap sensor, and said the dash would have to be removed at a cost of around $900 to replace it. There is a video of a guy bypassing his in his Lincoln, so I thought I could try that. Found your video and discovered that the sensor was accessible from the driver's side, and wow, was that easy! I went the extra mile and bought the Motorcraft part at O'Reilly's for $13, clipped it, and the AC is perfect now. Thank you!

Unbelievable! This worked like a charm! Coming from someone who doesn't have a mechanical history, I was somewhat leery about this solution. However, everything that this guys was saying about the problem was happening on my family's return trip from NJ. So, I tried it and when I came back from the bathroom at a rest stop off the turnpike, and saw the windows rolled up, I was so happy to find the fix worked! My wife, kids, and mom were all singing my praises as I got into the car. Daddy saved the day! Or at least the ride back... Thank you for making me look like a rock star!

Thanks sir! Works like magic, I've had this problem since last year and went to a repair shop for a couple of times but they already change the compressor, added freon but still had the same problem and they suggested to open the dashboard to inspect the whole AC system....I was hesitant to do this at first but I said it wouldnt be so bad to try it and voila!!! It's working fine ,should have done this a long time ago and could have save me some dollars ..

Now in high humidity Arkansas with 100 degree heat. Clipping the loop took care of the issue perfectly. I’m not sure it has ever cooled down this low before. I’ll rate this TSB fix a 10!

Good Sunday to you. Just wanted to touch base with you as it has been seven years since you first posted this. Looks like Ford came out with another part to replace the original one, and you don't have to snip the loop off of the sensor now.... Allegedly. it is FV6Z-19C734-B. About the only difference that I can see from the original part and what the new one is, is a bend in that straight shaft about halfway up before you get to the sensor. and to be honest, it looks like it is original part, and Ford just heated it and bent it. time will tell. Because I did do the loop removal, and down here in Florida, a year after I did it, I started having the same problem again. I will keep you in the loop as to how this works in the long run. Thanks so much.

Brian, Love your videos, especially helpful for my 2009 Ford Escape. Have you done any videos on the very common problem of radiator fan running on high speed when AC is being run. Apparently the issue is caused by the desiccant bag bursting which results in the particles floating around and ultimately plugging up pressure valve. The TSB fix involves reverse flushing the system to purge all the debris. My tech just replaced the valve and re-pressurized system but shortly thereafter the radiator fan is again running at high speed although my AC is still operating cold. Blower Speed #1 doesn’t work but I think that is another issue to be solved by replacing YH23 blower resistor.

I think I have the same problem on my 2010 Ford Fusion. AC airflow drops to nothing, only happens during very humid conditions. Airflow returns to normal after an hour or so (evaporator thaws??). I've learned that if I run the heater for just a couple of minutes, it defrosts quickly. Too bad its so difficult to replace the sensor on the Fusion (I watched your other video on removing the dash). I'll just live with it. Excellent job on the videos, thanks.

Good video! I'm having the same problem with my 2012 Escape, i.e. in hot weather lately, the AC starts blowing warm air. I've taken it into a neighborhood mechanic and a dealership, but both were unable to recreate the problem (charging me over $100 total) for the "labor". It's now cooler and it seems to be working fine, but since this is Texas, it'll be steaming in no time around here. Would this problem A) occur on a 2012? and B) be so intermittent?

Great video. I do have a question. I have a 2014 Escape and I've noticed a buzzing noise coming from the blower fan. I've taken it to the dealer and they told me that they compared it to a new vehicle and advised that it made the same noise. Do you know if this is common in this model? If not, do you know how to access the blower fan? I'm wondering if debris has gotten into the fan.

the sensor is in the exact same place for a 2014 ford focus.. I am guessing they used this same sensor in many models, so would you say its worth a try to fix? description of issues, air flow slows to a crawl and is at room temperature.. and car sits for a while, crank it up, whaaala.. so guessing core is freezing, and once thawed, prob is solved.. I am guessing its safe to make same repair on my focus..?? and yes.. you're awesome.. thanks for this info.. powerless to the dealer repair shop, and an empty wallet, without you...

Hi how are you. My problem is related except that I just bought a used 2018 Escape and the problem is that the AC blows hot when we get in it. The temp reading that's right next to the vehicle back up view display monitor show a way of number. Like when I got in it today it showed 27°f. So it blows hot air thinking it needs to heat the cabin not cool it. After driving a few minures I turned the AC system off and on then temp reading started going up quickly to the proper cabin temp. which was 87°f. Then the AC came on and it started blowing cold air. What is causing this problem? Is it the same as above ?

If at all possible, could you please answer the same question (or possibly pount us to a link) in detail related to the earlier model 2010 to 2012 with the same issues. Many people on this stream have asked, but there doesn't seem to be a definitive answer as to how to find the "evaporator temperature sensor" on these models. Specifically do you have to pull the dash out to reach it? Many references are to the 2012 Ford Escape. Thank you so much for your time.

Hi, I own Kuga 2 from 2013. Its a 2.0 tdci Duratorq and I have the issue you describe, bit I can reproduce it every time when my car engine speed is greater that 2.5k. What I did are changing cabin filter and I cut that temp sensor as you showed in this video. But my problem still exists. What I think is that I might have an overchaged AC system and compressor shuts down due to ac pressure sensor finds too high pressure at high pressure side when engine revs high (a lot of "high" word 😅 ). But how to confirm that? Is there any free app I can use with OBD2 reader to see the value of that ac pressure sensor?

FordTechMakuloco sir, how are you? I always watch your videos related to ford. I just wondering have you ever encountered a problem related to a/c that is turning on and off whenever its hot outside. I soon realized that its happening when I turned off my recirculation then the ac intermittently shutting on and off about 4sec intervals. I tried to check the ac pressures and its good. I also did alter my evap sensor. Like what you showed in your video. Even my private Mechanic cannot figured it out, i tried to bring it to the dealer and it did not show any signs of the problem. So I just dunno anymore what to do with the car. Is there any connection with the a/c and the recirculation? Maybe software problems? Thank you so much. My car is a ford escape 2014 2.5L.

Can anyone tell me where to find this TSB? I've searched online and the return is spotty, and spoken to a Ford dealer that says they don't know anything about it. Also, does this count as a recall and is it covered?
