I had this exact problem. It was in fact the fender Rambox hose. My 2013 2500 has an access port in the fender well for the headlight. I could reach through that access port and remove the brittle collapsed hose from the ram box. Problem solved. No need to remove anything if you have the access panel. Thank you!

Bingo!!! Pulled the fender liner on my 2013 Ram 2500 today and the hose was essentially flat. Cut it off, replaced the liner, cleared the code and drove it like a "madman " for about 45 minutes. Never popped the code again and had been doing it everytime I gave it more than half throttle. Thanks for the excellent video.

Started getting the service air filter message, found some small pieces of the corrugated tubing under the filter. I removed the tubing but I'm still getting the message from time to time. How do I test the actuator?

@@darryladams519 Thanks and hope it went well for you as well. The only way that I know of to test that actuator is with a scanner that has that feature....which usually means a high end scanner. I recommend having it checked and so that you dont waste any money on any unneeded parts.

Thank You, well explained. I did cars for 34 years but out of the business for 16 and haven't kept up and mostly did Peugeot, VW, Merceds and Cadillac diesels. Didn't do a lot of diesels at my shop for 28 years. Its nice to be able to look something up, see how it works and issues by an actual knowledgeable tech. Was able to easily find the problem fix it and erase the codes test drive and all good now!!!!! 🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

dave194315 They actually use to pay me per video and then it became a hassle getting paid so I just kept making more and putting them on here myself. I work fast enough that it doesn't interfere with my normal work load. Plus with the group of techs we have now at the shop....they might need to watch these videos to learn how to work on the stuff in their bay.

I just bought a 14' ram 3500 DRW with 75,000 miles. When I took it for a test drive the service air flutter message popped up. Took it back to the dealer and the service guy got mad at the salesperson saying that they just serviced it. Mechanic said well it only does it at full throttle. I said so fix it. It was the flex pipe that sucked in on itself. An hour later I was on my way home with my new (to me) truck.

I found my intake "dryer" hose in the box against air filter today. I cut it off and put some heavy screen mesh over the opening on the fender side. Secured with clamp.

Been to dealership twice under warrenty. Fixed in 10 min. went thru light bulb door drilled 2 holes in duct with pocket knife. thanks

I think a small piece of window screen tie wrapped to the end of the air tube would do well to keep animals and large debris from getting inside the air box. 1/4" wire mesh would work too.

I like the mesh....one you get rid of that dryer tube. No more collapse and nothing getting past the mesh. I found a mesh sink strainer that fit inside the dryer flex tube. I can see leaving a few inches of the flex tube and putting the mess sink strainer in. Luckily is its that common an issue and personally I havent seen one in over a year. @@MotorCityMechanic Howdy. I keep getting the service air filter message after taking the corrugated tube off. It wasn't collapsed but I did find small pieces of stuff in the box that looked like it may come from the inside of the tube so I removed it and replaced the air filter ith a new one. How do you check the actuator? I have taken the new filter out and "cleaned" it with my air compressor and sprayed wd40 on the flap linkages. That seemed to work for a few days but.....

Perfect fixed my problem right away! My old one was beyond salvageable. Cut it off where you recomended and plan to either install a whole new cold air intake or add a peice of rubber hose possibly just incase pvc would rattle? Thank you again though. Do you recall what size diameter the hose is roughly?

My tube got sucked into the airbox. It came apart like a toilet paper roll core does. i tore it all off but there was a plastic brace that went around the end of the ducting. basically a plastic band. do you think the plastic piece coming out of the air box will have enough support if i leave the ducting off?

I dug deep and found this in a tread. I have a 2013 with 62k miles. Could this have gone bad already??? "The solution to the Service Air-Filter message and CEL was to change the lower air-filter box. It seems that the servo motor attached to it, that activates the gate that changes the airflow from the grill to under the hood, thinks that the gate has not opened or closed, the signal is interpreted as a restriction or a leak in the intake system." Thoughts??

Dealership is telling me my low boost and loss of power is because my air box is bad. Not showing the code you mentioned but is showing P1475 and P003A turbo actuator learning limit exceeded.

MotorCity Mechanic Turbo actuator went bad. The first dealer was literally trying to rip me off. Caught them red handed. The second dealer replaced the part under warranty. 2900 dollar part also

MotorCity Mechanic Some dealerships bank on the customers being uneducated about how machinery works. I have a code reader and I owned a 6 liter Powerstroke so needless to say I became well versed in diesel engine mechanics. I knew exactly what the problem was and had a warranty that covered the malfunctioning part. Wish I could send you a pic it would blow your mind. They claimed they pulled my Air box and verified it was no good. The pic proves they did no such thing. They opted to try to rip me off. Didn't work and when confronted they called to police. Very interesting I should sue them honestly.

I put a k and n filter in my truck and a week later my check engine light came on with a code for the turbo...I then removed the filter with a bran new stock filter and the light went out...now another week later and it's back on...any ideas?

Hey MCM! Trying to remove the turbo on my 07 6.7 to replace a leaking exhaust manifold gasket. Whats the secret to removing and re-torquing the inside rear hut on the turbo??? tried a wobbly, a universal nothing lines up!!! How do you do it??? Roger

There is nothing inside the pipe. It leads directly to the door on the housing with nothing stopping any small rodents for using it as a highway to the box to store their nuts lol. Thanks for watching and for the comment.

2017 ram 6.7 code p2281 air leak. Mass air sensor, map sensor, intercooler, and EGR have all been changed by the dealership. Smoke tested. Not leaks. Loosing my mind.

I couldnt find anything obvious on the one I checked being that the issue wasnt active or happening when checked. I order the intake heater and solenoid. Just waiting for the parts to come in and reschedule the customer to come in for repair.

Bought my 2018 ram dually for hotshot. Has 200k on it. After 2 weeks it’s struggling on inclines. It has a perform service light on and check engine on it. Any ideas what’s making the truck lose power?

Perform service is just a routine maintenance interval....the check engine light is what we need to start with. Anything Is possible at this early point and just a guess until the codes are checked

hey David, my 2013 2500 Cummins with 52 k just threw a "Service Exhaust System, see dealer" at me on my instrument cluster, the catalytic converter was replaced at 44k. what could be the problem. I would appreciate the help.thanks!

It's going to depend on the code found. It could be one of a hundred different things. Your local auto parts store will check the codes for free and with that I would be able to help you further. Otherwise we are flying blind

There is a plant in Mexico that does make the Ram truck as well. Not all trucks are made there but some are for sure. This isnt anything new and has been going on since 1995.

I had one of my drivers neglect to change the air filter and it was sucked a little bit into the intake. Did not look like any dirt got in the intake boot or engine. What kind of damage would an air starved engine result in?

+primagen77 Actually when the air filter gets sucked in.....the next thing in line is the turbo! It has to go thru there first before the intercooler and then the intake. You need to make sure no damage was done to the turbo blades. Its very possible.

Todays RAM Diesel is built like a shit box ! OK so I just took my 15 ram .67 culms diesel, to the dealer . Turns out a mass air flow sensor is bad, Tech says it from my 'AIR_RAID', replacement filter. I call BULL SHIT.! The baffle is there for a reason. I dont really see any benefits that justify do it. They make mention of the plastic pieces coming loose and impacting the turbo which I have never seen. The engine already has enough sounds....I dont think you will hear much over the turbo, exhaust brake, engine, and exhaust. Unless someone showed my dyno sheets showing an actual improvement in performance......I will remain skeptical.
