20 minutes? Yeah right are you guys on crack? It took me 20 minutes to get the first panel free. Great videos despite unrealistic estimates. I got the third ashtray screw by drilling a hole through the plastic wall in a straight line to allow an extended 1/4 inch drive to reach the screw. Needless to say I did Not put the screw back in with no loss in function.😀 once I got the battery recharged and rebooted all the computers by pulling the battery cables and touching them to each other. The screen now works great and my Mother-in-law says is even better than before !! Thank you for great directions.😀😀

The 3rd ashtray screw also got me. Instead of struggling with it, I removed the screws on the side that hold the leather panel in place. This gave enough room to pull apart the ashtray compartment on either side and remove the two dash panels. Make sure you have enough light to see the ashtray compartment to pop it apart. After that work around, everything else went smoothly and the screen replacement was easy. It did take a long time due to the ashtray screw, but well worth saving the 2K. Very happy to have it functional again! Thank you for the great video.

Got mine replaced today, nice to be able to tune the radio again! Please remove the other (original) XTS video that doesn't mention the two hidden screws around gear shift and cup holder. Wasted an hour learning what was holding it down. Everything else worked great including the new screen, thanks!

Where do I start? I can't say enough great things about how well this video is done showing the highest details. This literally save me so much money that I cannot say "Thank you" enough for both making a better product as well as a detailed video. I have a 2014 Cadillac XTS Platinum that has had the CUE system replaced twice under warranty and yet it crapped out again. The dealer quoted me over $1,200 to swap the unit and only provide a 1-year warranty. Cadillac should be Is embarrassed of the touch technology they chose for all of their vehicle lines. Thank you again for a fantastic product and an exceptional video!!!

The instructions/ videos were excellent! I did what Roger did by drilling a hole in the plastic wall to have straight shot to the screw , much easier to remove and reinstall. The Cue replacement went smoothly but it did take a bit more time, but it was the first time. The screen is great! Its like having a newer car and my wife is soooo happy to have her screen back.

This is an excellent video and a wonderful service to the community. I found the removal of the CUE box to be much harder than it looks. Some of the panels with the spring clips do not pop off as easily as shown in the video because his were already lose. It took us much longer the first time since we did not want to break anything. Our CUE box for a 2016 XTS had 4 electrical connectors in the back instead of 3 as shown. But this did not alter the procedure. We also noticed that he said to remove the ash try only required removing three 7 mm screws. But a careful look at the video shows there were 4-5 other screws on the sides that were already taken out. Not sure if those needed to be removed but I did so just to make sure. Also prying off the rear seat AC / heat cover was tricky since there is a mounting bracket under the wood veneer that is difficult to see. That is what needs to popped off that has the spring clips and not the wood veneer trim which is only held on by 4 small plastic pins and not designed to be removed. Overall, this is a great video. If you are not very mechanical, I would not suggest you attempt this. But any reasonably skilled back yard mechanic can clearly do this with some patience. My replacement touch screen was an exact fit and did solve the CUE problem!

I was very hesitant to try to fix this, however the expensive alternative was enough of an incentive. I got the premium screen with the tools and the "tweeser" and all are great and allow you to not damage the car pieces. I watched the videos multiple times and had an ipad with me to follow along if needed. We have the 'heat' down in Texas and it eats the original screens so I wanted a replacement that would solve the issue once and for all. I took a lot of time and it actually was right on spot with the videos. I was surprised it took a little extra effort to loosen things up but it was built better than the older cars I used to work on with all plastic. The one trick for the screw holding the ashtray is to use a small wrench from the front top to loosen it and then I used a socket with a swivel connector and extension to take it out and put it back etc. So much easier than trying to reach it otherwise. Also, when putting the cupholder/gear selector "box" back, snip off a little from the vertical plastic alignment molded shaft UNDER the "cupholder box" so that it will drop right down during reassembly. It won't be needed anymore as it is used in the original build of the vehicle I think. Everything fit back perfectly and it was so much easier than to try and wedge something back in place at least in my opinion. The Cuescreen is a terrific solution and I had a little glitch but the support folks sent me the method to reset the software (it's also on the website) which fixed all my issues! Putting on the new screen is a breeze as long as you watch the videos and take your time! The videos are GREAT. I highly recommend getting the Cuescreen products as you really get what you pay for!

Is it easier to replace if you replace the who unit. I know it is more expensive but it have seen the wholevunit for 450.00. But cadillac want 1300. To replace the whole unit. They want 400.00 labor and 700 for unit. But if I buy a unit not just screen don't think my son. It is not patient. Can I have your phone number so I can ask questions. My car is 2014 50000 miles and the acreen worked atv11 am at 2pm i could not push a button to go to Bluetooth so I could pair my phone. I also have a cd player but cannot get there from radio. It was playing cd until 4pm and that stopped . But thinknthe cd playervis good just cannot push to get to the audio screen. I noticed this summer couldn't use the GG e buttons to say which way I wanted air to blow. Didn't realize that had anything to do with the cue screen. Thank you

Thanks for the install instruction video, managed to get it all done but had some issues because of the time between removal to check the screen type, ordering it and delivery. Got a couple of screws left over but all seems to work fine, good to find all but for where it says watch the second video below! Couldn't find that 2nd. Video!

Hidden ashtray screw got me for awhile! All that huffing and frustration with the ratchet and flexible extension but a straight ratchet and deep 7mm bolt fits into that oval slit in the plastic there that blocks the hidden ashtray screw. It doesn't look like it but it gets you a straight shot to just turn your tool as your normally would. At the end slow down and the screw won't fall into the car. There is enough plastic base in there where it'll kind of hang. I took some long kneck pliers and reached around the plastic and grabbed the screw. Now I'm stuck at the step after. Still happy I have my 1500 and dignity though. Lol

I just finished my '15 XTS Luxury and it worked the first time! I can see why you have shown the panels and parts already loosened as the language would not be appropriate for all audiences. The only hard part for me was the Rear Climate control panel. The line had put a little more goop on the center console leather causing it to be a little stickier. That was really the only hard part of the removal. The screen swap in the module was uneventful, with all of the tips in that video. Thank you for a great product and fantastic video support!

Just finished up another XTS. I'm an installer. With this one I found it not necessary to remove the rear a/c vent. And I also left the switches attached to the CUE, then disconnected the plugs with the other wiring when removing the CUE. The screws behind the switches are slow to remove because you only get a 1/4 turn with a box wrench, but I'd rather be slow than break the switch retainer bracket. Just another alternative...

Dealership told me it was the infotainment system that needs to be replaced. How can you determine if that's true or if it's the touchscreen?
@poconojohnny
@poconojohnny Жыл бұрын
Taking it outside the dealership ("stealership") network for confirmation from any reputable car repair shop or even a car stereo installation shop. I've always been of the opinion that dealerships employ "part swappers" compensated based upon the total of our repair jobs, not on the work required to get our vehicles back on the road - as a mechanic used to do. Mind you, I do NOT fault the mechanics or techs at the dealership - it is the compensation model the dealership puts into place. I wouldn't be surprised if they are disciplined for not meeting financial "targets". But I'm a cynic. Besides that "rant" please do a bit of research and you'll find these POS CUE screens are the bane of existence for a pretty stinkin' nice ride.

This will take MUCH longer than 20 minutes to dis-assemble. The third 7mm screw for the ash tray holder is behind plastic and is not accessible. I have spent well over an hour to this point trying to get at it to no avail. I am going to remove myself from the situation and try to approach it again tomorrow. I think I am going to need tools I do not have that allow me to access that third 7mm screw somehow. If you have not purchased this yet and are considering doing this yourself, I recommend that you do not. Find an installer that will do it for you (albeit at a cost). I am wishing I had taken that approach at this point.

For those reading this guys comment, don’t give up. I simply used a 7mm box end wrench and finished with a 1/4” drive socket with a regular 7mm socket for this step. Could get about 10 degrees per throw, but it came out in a couple minutes. Some extensions and flex heads might have been better. It is doable.

I hated these things when I was working for Cadillac. I'm a helluva parts slinger & the techs always come to me. But these where on an exchange program & our techs were knocking them out in like 10 minutes. They were killing it, but we were lucky to make $25 per & replacing the entire unit. I cussed these things all day long.. Lol Oh, & then 1 or 2 different part #'s would randomly go on backorder. I was never a liar before I started selling parts. But it sure beats all day donkey barbeques, because of the ass chewings from customers who were actually right for a change
