We bought a 2015 L405 5.0 Supercharged and have owned it a little over a year. Aside from regular maintenance (oil changes that I do myself), I've replaced wear and tear items (brakes and rotors front and rear), the main battery (the original one was getting tired), and two downstream O2 sensors (replaced them using my friend's lift). If you can do some of the maintenance yourself, you can save a lot of money. Be prepared...When this thing was new, It was over $110,000 and the parts will reflect that. I love the vehicle, but if you're the type that likes to skimp on maintenance, don't by a Rover. This is a vehicle that you need to be proactive with it's maintenance.

@@cadillachernandez2271 Replacing the downstream O2 sensors is pretty straight forward. You'll have to move some heat shielding wrap out of the way to access to the electrical connectors that are mounted to a bracket and use a open end wrench or a O2 socket to get them out. Definitely not worth taking back to a Land Rover dealership and getting screwed out of hundreds of dollars.

I purchased my 2014 L405 in late 2013. 10 years later, very few issues. If they are as crummy as the comments above state, why do owners love them? Just like a Porsche Cayenne, these cars are really inexpensive to buy used after 6 years of age. They depreciate like a rock falling off a cliff once off warranty. Purchasers are afraid the older high-end SUVs will bankrupt them, but if you can find a reliable and honest independent shop, luxury SUVs are a real bargain to buy. Aluminum body still looks like new even with northern salt-covered roads in winter. Sure, all used cars require some good luck, but these Rovers are often kept in a garage, low mileage, dealer serviced by the original owner, and no one took them to a track. My 3-liter V6 gets 20-23 mpg highway and has more than enough power. Fewer problems than a new Defender.

Hello my friend, thanks for stopping by, if you get a chance, consider watching this vid at x2 speed as I think it can help but I def think a new Defender with the inline 6 for around $80k is the best value in the lineup since clean L405 lwb supercharged v8s go for around $60-$70K for a 4 year old vehicle with around 50k miles, the Defender will be new with no miles and still drive amazing 👍

What are your thoughts on LOW milage LR's? Suppose there was a 15k milage out of warranty for a decent price. It is more the milage associated with issues OR age of vehicle?
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 11 ай бұрын
If it has 15k miles it should have factory warranty on it so it should be fine. Someone commented saying that newish low mileage vehicles at a none land rover store will have factory warranty that will be passed down to the next buyer but I would just call the dealer and double check to be safe. But at that point you're paying so much for a clean low mileage Rover that you can just buy a brand new Defender or something for $80k. And as I stated in the video, new used doesn't matter, I've had issues with literally 200 miles JLR products

@@lexrus7786 I have owned a 2013 RR Sport and now a 2016 L405. Love them both. No maintenance issues with either and put 70K on my Sport and am over 75K with my L405. With any luxury vehicle you are going to find a good number of issues just because they are outfitting it with new tech which has loads of sensors to measure varying aspects of the vehicle. Sensors fail and when they are part of a critical chain, it causes ripple effects. Every vehicle suffers from this, some more than others. Honda and Toyota both went through growing pains and have wonderful autos. LR/RR has changed hands enough times that they have had to shift production processes, this caused problems but overall, their reliability has increased considerably.

What happened to the other 2? Did they die or did you sell them? I doubt the issue is people "affording" them. There are lots of great options higher and lower than a range. LR is what you should use because it describe the Low Reliability of Land Rover vehicles and Low Reasonability levels of it’s consumers. Otherwise nothing! No issues. You also don't need a warranty unless you like wasting money. These cars have been out so long you can get almost any part used and have an independent put them on for you and for a fraction of what the dealer charges. Stay away from dealer service as they will rape you. There are plenty of independents these days that work on Land Rovers. That's literally 99.9% of people. Not everyone wants to be or will care enough to be an automotive expert/mechanic. Being a jack of all trades makes most people a master of nothing. Last thing a school teacher, nurse, lawyer, carpenter, insurance salesperson, engineer, architect, programmer, etc wants to do is come home and wrench on a car nor do they have time to learn since they spend their time and energy being an expert on their field of study which is why they can excel and make a great living. I've noticed this only with the automotive community but somehow if people don't know anything about cars they are an idiot but a watchmaker does not mock someone for not knowing how to put a rolex back together and a doctor won't make fun of you for not knowing how a pancreas works. It's a good idea to know some basic things with a car since most of us use a car everyday but I don't blame people for not knowing. Cars can be intimidating to most.

I wish I could get RR reviews from a mechanics point of view to a DIY person. I’ve had a few German cars and none of them had warranty. Well, I was the warranty because I do all my own work. I really want to know what it’s like to work on them because I’ve had to work on every car I’ve ever had (including Lexus) and some are easier to work on than others. The Lexus was NOT the easiest to work on BTW.

Yes factory warranties always transfer to any secondary owners as long as your still within the mileage and year caps. I’m with you on buying new at this point. By the time you pay the price for a nice CPO car it’s just not a big enough discount. Also if im going to be paying 60k+ for a car I want to order it the way i want it. This is especially true of Porsche where used ones are barely discounted and with so many options it’s hard to find a used one equipped the way you want.
@MeynMotorGroup
@MeynMotorGroup 11 ай бұрын
But do you think the warranty will still transfer if for example person buys the vehicle from a non authorized dealership like the Volvo dealer I used in the example? From my understanding, first owner will buy or lease it new then trade the vehicle in to a dealership (like the volvo dealer) technically since they bought the car, wouldn't warranty transfer to the dealership? And when we come in to buy the car from the Volvo store we would be the third buyer in this equation so that's why I was confused if we would get the remainder factory warranty passed to us. But yes I def agree not much discount off MSRP compared to the person that bought new especially considering the mileage and we're not even getting it in the spec we want.

A good rule of thumb is this: If the secondary market is the only way you can afford to get into these vehicles, then these vehicles aren't for you. Side note: Saying that "all modern vehicles" have electronic issues due to all the sensors, cpu's, etc. is simply making excuses for JLR products. It's making excuses because JLR products have been known to have reliability issues decades ago...since the late 70's from what I can remember.... long before all the electronics became commonplace in today's vehicles. Back then, they were called "electrical" issues....as opposed to today's "electronic" issues.
