Excellent review. Congrats. For the ones interested in owning, this is the best driver centric car in its class. ATS should be driven to understand what it's offering. I'm planning to buy the 2018 model since ATS is getting CUE 3. Go past the Consumer Reports reviews and do your own research to find how amazing this car is, for it's class. Toronto_NDN as an ATS owner myself, I'll admit it's had two major problems that needed warranty work. 1, the intercoler for the turbos needed to be replaced (noticed my engine temp running slightly higher than normal). 2, my cue system stopped responding to touch input. Lucky for me, I had the 50k bumper to bumper warranty along with the 70k power train. If the powertrain does fail, I'm dropping a v8 in it lol. Also I can't speak on the awd system or auto as I have the rwd manual. I will say this though, if you maintain the interior well, that leather will last decades (have the red interior and haven't seen any color changing/fading). Caddy uses true premium materials unlike the Germans and their "MB -Tex" leather. Going on 5 years and the interior looks like the day it was bought, minus some wear on the drivers seat, and some self inflicted scuffs on the will plates from uncaring friends.

I love how the 3.6 V6 sounds. It has a low growl missing from a lot of new compact executive sedans. I'd argue it sounds better than the C350 3.5 DI 302hp V6; oddly enough I actually think the older C350 3.5 MPI 272hp V6 sounds BETTER than the newer more powerful DI unit. On the flipside, the 2.0T sounds meh at best. The car is fine and I think it's the better overall engine for the ATS (adequate power & good fuel economy), but it doesn't sound as special. Plus, having driven the C350 302hp V6 for sometime, it be hard to settle for a 4cyl again. I wish Cadillac equip their motors with start-stop function though.
@IKhanNot10 жыл бұрын
I actually agree. I have an 06 C280 with the M272 V6 and it sounds great and feels very smooth. It doesn't clatter about like the new DI motor and weirdly enough the Cadillac DI motors are much quieter than the German offerings.

I used to drive this car. The V6 sounds a lot like an old VQ V6.....love it
@kingfarticusreturns63714 жыл бұрын
There's just no substitute for a naturally aspirated V6. Numbers don't tell the whole story. The smoothness and the linearity of the acceleration, not to mention the sound more than offset any concessions in the 0-60 0-100 numbers game some of these 2.0 turbos win. And besides, accelerating from 0-60 on a closed course misses the point. Roads are rarely straight. I'm much rather have the V6 going up a mountain pass than a stupid 2.0 turbo.

The interior quality still does not compare to Mercedes, BMW or Audi. I think we got the 2.0 liter engine with 6(or 7)speed transmission, too small for this car.
