I totally agree. Had an outlander 1000 that was in the shop more then it sat in my garage. I kicked the Canned Ham to the curb and went with the Polaris 850 XP. Love the Polaris!!

All the guys we ride with ride Outlanders with the exception of myself and another guy who ride Grizzlies. Every single one of the Outlanders had problems this past season. Some of them multiple. Overheating, Sensors giving false readings, broken axles etc...I was going to buy a 650 Outlander before the Grizzlie but when I saw the PITA job it was just to remove the side plastics to get at the oilt filter, it just seemed tedious. They are a powerful machine with lots of bells and whistles that ride great but be prepared for high maintenance and $$$.

Well, I guess I just joined the Polaris club.. I bought my kids 2 new Sportsman 850 XP HO. We took them for the first time off road into the desert about 20 miles North of Dubai couple of days ago, it was great, that engine has massive 80 hp power. I am glad I got the Polaris.

you are so right about the front springs, fantastic machine apart from that, $25k here in the UK, UNBELIEVABLY comfortable on the trails!

hey man, which do you think is better this or the polaris sportsman 850? i think this one looks better but maybe the other one has better performance?

Can-am is a great ATV choice for people who are really interested in ATV trail riding or mudding. It is generally a high-maintenance ATV and requires knowledge and experience to keep running. I have personally heard derogatory comments about being able to use the Can-am ATVs for a short time, then having to replace them. That means it also requires a nice, steady income to keep with the "program. If you are not interested in a high-maintenance ATV, you should look more into used ATVs in good condition on sites such as Craigslist. For trail riding type ATVs, I would suggest something like a small, Yamaha Timberwolf 250 4x4. For ATVs for mudding, I am not as experienced. Finding legitimate reviews online would be useful. Be careful though, because a lot of online reviews are fake and made by the companies that the "review" suggests. Good luck!

I really like the passenger seat in the Sportsman 850 touring - super comfortable. If you think you want the extra power, the Outlander MAX 1000 is probably the way to go. However, the Polaris 850 is no slouch either. If I were choosing, I'd break it down to two things - the dealer and the price. If you like one dealer more than another, go with them. If you like both dealers, follow the money.

If you're swimming in disposable income, than absolutely yes! That being said, I can't imagine you'd be unhappy if you went with the Outlander MAX 800. But if you demand that 1000cc power, consider investing in stiffer front shock springs or replacing the front shocks altogether to better handle that extra power.

Thank you, it is exactly what I was looking for,it's going to be between the Can-Am and Polaris Sportsman. Both are fantastic ATVs it will come down to availability of parts and good dealer service in Dubai. If I am not mistaken, Can-AM also is a bit more costly than the Polaris. I appreciate you taking the time to answer my concerns.

Thank you for your report. I am in the market to buy 2 or maybe 3 4x4 ATVs. I am located in Dubai and I would like to buy a top ranking machine that can function best in desert hot conditions. Having said that, I am looking for power and good features, if I may ask who would you rank as the best 3 ATVs in the market that can function best in hot, sandy and dry desert environment. Your feedback is much appreciated.

It's got gobs of power. Not sure how often you'd need the extra 200cc, though. The Rotax 800 engine is awesome.

I'm afraid Kymco didn't release the MXU500 for the U.S. until the 2010 model year. We do have a full written review on ATV.com, but no video.

runningstrong46- FYI the Polaris Touring is much shorter than the can am making it better at maneuvering tight turns or even turning around on a OHV trail. It's only 3" longer than the 1up Sportsman while the Cam An Outlander MAX is 10" longer than the 1up can am outlander. I'm not saying the can am is a bad choice but keep in mind it is very long. The Arctic Cat TRV bike is also long. Polaris has made room for an additional passenger without stretching the bike frame as much as it's competitors. I'm pondering getting one myself.

Is a nice machine but very unstable you can watch in the video. TTI is good at low speed but when you go fast and you have to turn yo have to move all you boddy more than other machines to prevent the roll over. 4wd visco lock i hate to be honest i prefer polaris awd of yamaha

What about Suzuki king quad 500
@ATVdotcom8 жыл бұрын
What about it, Zack? This is a two-seat ATV with a 1000cc engine, so the KQ 500 is not really comparable. That said, we wouldn't hesitate to own one for solo riding.
@zackzackary95378 жыл бұрын
ATV.com I meant for solo riding like off-roading through mud which is better not engine just prephormance
@ATVdotcom8 жыл бұрын
Zack ZacKary The KingQuads haven''t seen a significant update in a very long time, but our team picked the KQ750 in a heavyweight Japanese ATV shootout a little while back. If you are looking to buy a new 500-class ATV, it's hard to go wrong with any of the major manufacturers. You'd be smart to check out a variety of dealers and go with the dealer you like best (or has the best reputation in your area). All ATVs will need service at some point, so a good dealer who takes good care of its customers will make all the difference.
