Good idea, I improved on it a little bit it though. Take the engine mount and torque mount all the way out. Then with a jack under the oil pan drop the engine down and towards the front of the vehicle. You can get it out if you pull it towards the intake tube area. You do not need to remove the valve cover but you do need to remove the oil control valve and the wiring on the back of the valve cover

I did not remove the cowl either. It’s very tight but can be done

Good video.....just to clarify, this is for the Ecotec 1.8 liter non-turbo Sonics. The manifold on the 1.4 Turbo models can be removed from the top without all those other steps.

Thank you so much. I never comment, but you saved me honestly. Prev owner JB welded the nipple for the brake booster which snapped.. Finally got the part out tonight. THANK YOU!!!

Remove the dog bone mount from the bottom rear fire wall side of the transmission, support the bottom of the engine with a block of wood on a hydrolic jack, remove the bolts from the passenger side motor mount. With the windshield cowl and the valve cover removed, lower the engine and the manifold comes out the top.

I had the stupid tip for the vacuum host to the brake booster fail on me. WHY they made it out of plastic I will never know. But after 10 yrs on the road it finally failed. and now I'll have to replace the entire manifold before of it =/

You just loosen the engine mounts and the transmission mount??
