chen qi got some of the most spiniest loop before...timo boll even commented that when chen qi is in his zone, noone can beat him. sadly he is out of the limelight now....and he got a bit fatter. i hope he gets back into shape...coz honestly, i do like his style also....strong backhand...and he used his backhands effectively against ma long in the german open 2010 semi finals....sadly he lost in that match...but what a game that was.....

Wang Liqin has the most poweful forehand. Ma Long has the most dangerous forehand. Ma Lin / Ryu Seung Min have the best 3rd ball attack forehand followed by Chen Qi one of the best 3rd ball attackers among shakehanders. People talk about Ma Lin and RSM because their forehands are either close or over the table FH attacks that you can do only with penhold. However, away from the table, they are overshone by players like WLQ, Ma Long and Chen Qi.

I don't think it's his lack of forehand speed that can't land him a top 10 position. Waldner never had a supremely fast forehand, yet he was a notch above the rest. Chen Qi's game suffers more in his inconsistency.

chen qi is a fantastic player but not a consistent one and has very large motions . He shoots to kill the ball not to keep in on the table....Zhang jike ma long xu xin are more consistent and with modern shorter strokes

When people are discussing who has the best forehand. They are always saying that ma lin, ma long, wang liqin have the most powerfull forehand but they never say chen qi, I really wonder why because imo his forehand is pretty fast and powerfull aswell.

Sure, it's not the most powerful forehand on the circuit, but still one of the most explosive. Pity about his inconsistency, cos I feel that despite that, he's still more entertaining to watch than most other Chinese players.

who's the rest of the gang? Because xu xin, zhang jike, fang bo, yan an dont have a faster forehand in my opinion. I think chen qi could have been much higher ranked back in the days, dont know why he wasnt, maybe an injury or something. He's got the talent, a really good serve, forehand and backhand are both great. Just missing the final touch i guess.

chen qi's better asset now is his backhand....before when ma long, zjk and xuxin were playing in their junior years, chen qi has got already one of the most lethal forehand loops...but now...these 3 had surpassed him already...even ma long(dubbed as the BEAST) nowadays is having trouble copping up with xu xin's forehand...truth is, chen qi got some fast forehand, but now...not fast enough to land him in the top 10 in the world, and he is not winning any leagues and big titles.love his game btw

his forehand is pretty fast and powerful as well....i believe that too..but then.....i think not fast and powerful enough to get him into the top and win more titles....he has his chance since 2007 but then Ma Long and the rest of the gang showed up......

chen qi has good forehand speed...just not that speedy enough nowadays...he already passed his chance to show up....he was in the top 10 before....but compared now to the likes of Ma Long (who is currently on the top place as of March 2013) chen qi doesn't have much of a chance as he used to have back then. true, chen qi's game suffers more in his inconsistency.....in my opinion he also lack a little bit on his footwork. Waldner in his prime was the turning point for china to upgrade their level
