I don't like messing with AC lines, so I remove clips that keeps them in place so that I can move them slightly out of the way. Then removed the radiator fans and took out alternator in the area where the fans were. Thanks for the video.

Man you're a lifesaver!!!! No pressure release on the ac line, and a little fluid came out of the top radiator hose, so much easier than laying on the ground and trying to work it around the ac compressor. Thank you!!!! 2012 Chrysler 200 3.6

OMG.... I have done this job 3 times now... This is BY FAR the easiest way to do it with out tyring to YANK it out the bottom. Nobody gives this instruction. and the manual wants you to take the fans off !! Thak You!

Thank you! I just walked my dad through this over the phone on his Avenger using your video! This also work for the Dodge Avenger with the 3.6L as well if anyone needs to know that

Yes. I needed to know this. I have a 2014 Avenger 3.6L. I've done this job about 1.5 yrs ago but I struggled big time taking it out from the bottom. Took me 3 days to figure it out, and still couldn't do it until some mechanic "sent by God" helped me pull it out from the bottom. I think he bent some metal hoses to get it out, but he got it. But if this is all I have to do, I'm trying this route today, because the alternator has gone out again.

I removed and replaced my alternator on my 2013 Chrysler 200 V6 using an alternate method. I removed the air handler (where the cabin filter is located), the radiator fans, and loosened up some wiring. This allowed me to avoid the AC components and not have to recharge my AC. I also removed the front passenger tire to have better access to the tensioner/serpentine belt. Be wary, once you remove the belt from the alternator it doesn't always sit in place as it should and I highly recommend ensuring that it's on track (mine wasn't). There's a video demonstrating this method on KZbin as well and I'd recommend it to anyone. You don't need to be a mechanic to replace the alternator on this car. Save yourself some money.

Thanks, help alot. Did lose ac fluids but it better then paying someone else to do it. Someone else would of cost around $ 700 $. Thanks again

I do not recommend disconnecting the ac line unless you have money set aside to service the ac system after the fact.

this is like reaching over your shoulder to wipe your but, remove the fan assembly easy. plus floor jack cost less than a evac and recharge.

Does your "shop" have an ac evac machine?

Different approach, buddy did a video on his 200 v6. We did it in a parking lol. Got a small floor jack and dropped it out the bottom!

If it's easier next time instead of taking ac line off slide fans out they should slid right out pull from passenger up then drive if that helps
@dylan-d9i6w Жыл бұрын
just take the fans off don’t have to take the ac line off you’ll have much more room

Who is the mother of the car's designer? I did this job today, it's really super difficult to do in DIY, even if I got two bolts broke and the positive cable screw stuck. follow another video and this video, my 2012 Routan finished like this: Remove the steel frame in the top of the radiator, this will let radiator and fan to move a little, in this give 5~10mm space, that a great for to remove the alternator Also release a plastic stand in engine

If you disconnect the ac line arent you going to have to evacuate the system? I think thats why they do it from the wheel well.
@Suckmyring4 жыл бұрын
You still have to take off the ac compressor and disconnect ac from the bottom its just alot more work other than releasing belt at the tensioner there is no reason to go from the bottom, this car was designed by imbiciles theres no real easy way of doing it.
@Suckmyring4 жыл бұрын
The proper way is to remove the air filter housing and radiator fans then you can pull it out from the top and not lose any ac fluids.
@albertmurray5700 Жыл бұрын
That's too much if u remove your ac line you're going to have to recharge the ac again just get a jack and take it out from the bottom
