2013. Dodge challenger window problems and how to fix it temporary,

What we need to do is get together and make dodge re-recall for the 2012-2017 challengers door latch or the wiring that goes from the latch to the box placed smack in the middle inside of the drivers door. They placed the same equipment and schematic as the 2011 challenger smart window and only recalled the 2011 for replacement. Why not of done it right the first time. Man I've been taking that fuse out and I've also replaced it before from dropping the original fuse in the well. The problem is mostly the driver's side door latch, the latch recycles itself 99% of the time when the vehicle is off and has done it a couple of times when I was driving. A hand full of people have the problem with their passengers side and everytime the battery goes dead. If the door is open it doesn't do it. The fuse is to the smart windows and the ability for the windows to move at all. As well as the box in the middle that let's the door know you are opening it so the window goes down a bit and when the door shuts it goes back up. You unfortunately have a sunroof, I do not so that space next to the spot the fuse comes from at the right is where I keep my fuse. But I did see you don't have your sunroof fuse in, so if nothing is wrong with the sunroof you can place the smartwindow fuse in there. I'm replacing the window motor actuator and door latch. But everyone who has replaced the latch thus far has fixed the problem. Which to me is weird. We're taking the same dam latch and just replacing it. You'd think you'd still have the same problem. Maybe the problem isn't the latch or window at all. Maybe the problem is the wiring going to that box. I did see a video about a guy claiming that the wire in the back right hole is getting a bad connection. So maybe reconnect with better wire like copper or gold instead of aluminum. I don't know, but I do believe DODGE NEEDS TO FIX THIS!!! Not their customers we see it as a nuisance but it can be fatal. What if someone is in a situation where they had to get in their challenger and get away from someone dangerous they get in thinking they ready to go and nothing, it's dead and so are they. This isn't the only problem either. Dodge knows dam well their 5.7's over heat their transmission yet year after year they still use the same tranny as the sxt and they should be either providing better cooling system up front or using a better tranny like in the srt. These are the 2 main and major problems ive already had my transmission worked on oh and my fuel pumps under the back seat. My challenger 2013 rt jazz blue only had 27,*** miles when i got her in Dec2019 by 48,***miles i had to already work on the tranny and replace the fuel pump, the window has been constant. Anyways sorry for the book. It's a shame the challenger old and modern are such a gorgeous beautiful machine and Chrysler/ Dodge just ruined them for CAPITALISM. Dodge must be accountable for what is clearly a way just to make more money off an already expensive machine.

I’m sick off this same freaking problem I replaced the alternator, and complete door latch assembly and it still drained my GD battery I probably should’ve pulled the fuse and saved a ton of money and time. 😂

If the fuse is bad, it would be an open, which would give the same result as taking it out. Being window goes up & down, the fuse is good. Just helping here.

OK, KJ--you are The MAN! IN less than three minutes: 1. I opened both doors manually 2. I connected the battery 3. I turned the starter control to the acc. position 4. I adjusted the two windows to just above the seal but where they would still close totally 5. I turned off the acc. position 6. I unhooked the battery 7. I pulled the fuse that controls the windows and locks 8. I hooked up the battery. I can now: A. Open and close my doors which now stay very close to the top seal B. Open my trunk at any time C. NOT experience any more leakage from my battery D. Can now lock my car with the manual key E. NOT have to pay the Chrysler place a quote of over $1,000 to fix this issue! Yes, it's temporary, but I can certainly operate the vehicle without use of electric windows or door locks for a long, long time since I have a manual key and a good A/C system. You saved me money, time and grief. I hope others will read this and do the same, especially if they are not in the position to fork over a thousand or more dollars for the permanent repair--a repair that should be borne by Dodge and the idiots who dreamed up this sabotage! Thanks again!!!

My challenger started doing that then i found a way to stop it by letting the driver side window down a lil but it stop for a couple weeks then it will started back for awhile now it won't stop. But im going try this trick.

Yeah, but when you take the fuse out it’s not gonna let your window open and down. I usually do it when I’m done for the night

Hi guys. Ok, I bought a used 2017 dodge challenger sxt plus this past September. 35,500 miles In December the had a little over 36,000 miles. One morning I went to start it. One click wouldn't turn over. Then it turned right over drove fine. End of work day 8 hours later, same day car was dead. I got an error message that the car has a power steering failure. Car was dead. After a quick prayer....the car turned on, I was able to drive it to my mechanic. He's had it 3 weeks now. WHAT THE F...... My mechanic says something is draining the battery. Brand new battery by the way. He thinks it's coming from trunk fuse box. My windows when opening and closing door would do that stupid little open then close feature. I never saw window go up and down on its own. I'm at a loss. If my mechanic can't figure it out then I'll have to try a dealership. I love this car, but come the F on. 35,000 miles? Problems already. Tons of material on the web that ALL DODGE VEHICLES HAVE ISSUES. Maybe before the AHoles go electric, they're people can care about all the customers who bought non electric and allow for help. Data on internet shows tons of issues with challengers. My car has no recalls either.

I just take the fuse out solves the problem but when you wanna let your windows up and down, you have to put it back in it will always drain your battery. I will be making some up-to-date videos on it soon.

I am trying this in a day or so. If this works, you will be my patron saint. I can now get the windows down just so the doors will close and the car can remain weather-tight, finally putting the battery cable on for good! I can do without door locks and power windows AND that idiot window clearance thing since I do have good AC. The cost to replace the door latch control is horrendous.I can do without that too. Thanks!!! Oh, and I will be able to get into my trunk again.

My 2020 is doing this and I have a question if I take the fuse out your saying the window won’t go up or down that’s great and all but what about trying to get in the vehicle the window has to go down and up when you open and close the door but thank you all tips are helpful

You can still open the door but You cannot let down the windows until you put the fuse back in I let the window go up first when I shut the door then I take the fuse out
